Hello again!
I've already browsed through the forums and found some answers, I've tried everything but my problem seems a bit more... incurable!
Yesterday, I intentionally turned off my iPhone 4S, as any user might do...
When I tried to turn it back on, the Apple logo appeared and disappeared... I thought it was the battery, so I plugged in my portable charger, the logo appeared and disappeared, then it reappeared and disappeared again, etc... Until I unplugged it...

So I went on various forums, and the problem doesn't seem new...
I performed the action "3 seconds power button, without releasing, 10 seconds home button, release power button and hold home button for 12 seconds" and learned that it was a factory reset maneuver.

Anyway...! I didn't touch it anymore and connected my iPhone to my PC for iTunes to recognize it as an iPhone to restore, which it did. It searched ALL NIGHT for some software update or I don't know what that would allow the restoration. This morning, it found it, so I asked it to restore, it started the restoration by performing various tasks until it displayed "waiting for iPhone." I thought either it was finally going to restart it (since the iPhone had been off since the day before and iTunes was working in parallel while having detected the iPhone), or "oh dear, my friend, you're going to have a hard time," and then I see the logo reappear, super great, and then... IT disappears!!!! then it repeats the appearance and disappearance! Again! Despite all the maneuvers!!! And then iTunes displays "unknown error four thousand something..."

Do you have an answer to my problem? Which apparently goes beyond what I've been able to find...

Hello, in two words: Dead battery...
The symptom of the Apple logo appearing and then disappearing repeatedly when the iPhone is plugged in is generally a sign of a faulty battery, which is why iTunes cannot restore the iPhone.
Replace the battery, it's not expensive.

Hello :

Here’s a solution that I had ruled out, well no, that I hadn’t thought of...
Because I turned it off intentionally and when I wanted to turn it back on 2 minutes later, it was the defective apple that was acting up!
  • I called Apple today, and a person who was not at all enthusiastic answered and made me do some - useless - manipulations, and in the end, could not find the answer - over the phone. I had also ruled out the possibility that it was the screen (which was changed barely 2 weeks ago by a "professional" from the support service, could it be partly because of that?)

Note that since then, the screen has been flickering or shaking weirdly, distorting the image..!
Anyway, thanks for this response; I’ll keep it in mind if I decide to do something...
And regarding everything that’s inside, how can I recover all my data?
Thanks.

Re, which iPhone model? ...
The screen image issue is strange and definitely not normal (new defective screen?) that said, an iPhone can function even without a screen, so that’s not the cause of the startup problem.
As for your data, since the iPhone won't restart, there's nothing you can do...
Change the battery; if the iPhone restarts normally, that’s better.
If the iPhone turns on and then displays the iTunes logo, you have to restore it. In some cases, iTunes restores the iPhone and upon restarting, everything is still there, or the iPhone restarts empty, but if iTunes has a backup of the iPhone, it will offer to restore it to the iPhone on the condition that you don’t disconnect the iPhone after the restore (set up the iPhone without disconnecting it from iTunes).
Regarding iCloud data (option checked in iCloud), it will come back automatically.

It's an iPhone 4S.. Fortunately, I made a backup last week, if I connect a new iPhone to my PC in the future, will iTunes offer to transfer the data from the old iPhone?
Anyway, thank you for your answers, I will focus on the battery issue and see what I can do.
Thank you.

Hello,
I will go back to see the repairman because it has a 1-year warranty, so given that after the screen was replaced, the image on the screen was shaking and flickering at times, and now this, I might as well take advantage of it!!
Thank you for your response.
Best regards.

Hello, I have the same issue with my iPhone 7, the Apple logo appears and then disappears, with no power on. Diagnosed by a technician, who thought it might be a battery problem (50%) or a dead motherboard (50%). He replaced the battery with a new one, and the phone started up right away, like new. The cost: €49, installation included, duration: 15 minutes! So, buying a refurbished iPhone for €600 will be for another time!
