Hello,
Some time ago, while tinkering with my PC, there was a short circuit in one of the 12V molex connectors of my power supply, and since then my PC won't start.
I wanted to know if a short circuit like that fries ALL the components of the PC or if there's some kind of safety feature in the power supply that prevents the short circuit from affecting the rest of the PC, thereby limiting the damage to just the power supply.

I still think, intuitively, that only the power supply took a hit, but well... not certain either!
The simplest and least expensive thing would be to take it to a shop, ONLY to check the power supply... that costs about €40 and it might be enough.
At least if the guy isn't the most honest, if changing the power supply doesn't change anything, you can take your machine back...
Then, whether it's the CPU or the motherboard, and if it's worth it... there, I don't know!

Well... I'm happy to help you: if you're close to my place, I'll give you a power supply!
Personally, I would put in another power supply first, we'll see afterwards.....
You say your PC turns on: if you press some keys, does it beep or not (with the speakers turned on, of course!)?

Thank you, actually I live in Belgium and it's not a standard power supply, it's a specific 450W one with a 6-pin connector to power the graphics card.
To summarize, I just moved out of my parents' house to get an apartment and my keyboard got lost in the move. In fact, my PC has been down for 6 months, but at that time I was living with my parents, so I didn't mind since I had their PC available. Now that I live alone and need a PC, I wanted to get mine up and running to install it in my apartment, you see. So I installed the power supply that was given to me and connected the PC like it used to be, but nothing at all, just the fans are running.

It seems that the short circuit has spread further... it seems surprising to me, but well, it looks like proof that it exists... sorry for you!
The short circuit you caused, which wire is it between?

As I said, I replaced the power supply with one that a friend gave me and he doesn't know if it works, so it could also be that. We should try with a 100% reliable power supply before judging that something else is fried. Anyway, I have a feeling I won't have a choice but to take it to the repair shop, hoping I can pay in installments because now I have rent to pay and I'm not rolling in money since I'm still studying.
It short-circuited at the red and black wire of the 12V Molex.

I hope that if something else has burned out, it is not the processor because I don't have €200 to spend. If the motherboard and the power supply are the ones that burned out, how much would it cost knowing that I need a 450W power supply with a 6-pin connector for the GPU and the price of a motherboard for processor GLA-1155?
On the other hand, if the processor is dead, I'll just take the PC to the dump --"

Hello,
if you've caused a short circuit on the power supply unit and your molex are no longer responding (no voltage), only the power supply has taken a hit!
generally, when fuses and other protective components of the power supply fail, you shouldn't try to replace the components because everything is calibrated in such a way that almost all circuits fail!
so it needs to be replaced!
if with your loaned power supply, the PC starts and you have no image, that's normal, you just need the power connectors for your graphics card that your unit doesn't have!
you need a modular power supply to be able to start the PC and see exactly what the situation is!
the diagnostic phase comes after the complete boot of the PC to check for any damage on the motherboard, processor, or other components like the graphics card or RAM sticks!
like this, and just talking, we can't define anything!

I'll go get my PC diagnosed by a repairman if we can't get help through the forum.
