Converting from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4

Your recorder only has a SD tuner, incompatible with receiving the new HD standard, no update possible because it’s hardware
You’re not alone in encountering this kind of problem and here’s what I usually propose on this forum.
Solution 1, the best and least expensive :-Most current HD DVB-T terminals have a "PVR" = Personal Video Recorder (in French = Magnétoscope Numérique), they record on external hard drives in HD, they can of course be programmed in advance, convenient, no more tapes or DVDs to handle and you can therefore record one channel while watching another on the TV if it is HD, otherwise dual-tuner adapter
You can still use your DVD recorder for playback
Solution 2 not great: add an HD terminal to your current recorder which will record via SCART an HD signal degraded to SD, image distortion etc, moreover you will have to program both devices.
-But it’s possible provided that the HD DVB-T terminal has a SCART socket, and that the recorder is switched to it.
Connections:
For the antenna, regardless of the solution :
Antenna input to the HD DVB-T terminal, then return to the TV with a coaxial cable (terminal output -> TV antenna input.)
Solution 1 : HD DVB-T terminal in HDMI to the TV.
DVD recorder in HDMI if possible to the TV, otherwise SCART.
Solution 2 :
The SCART output of the HD DVB-T terminal to the SCART input of the recorder (AV2 in principle) which will have to be switched to this input.
DVD recorder in HDMI to the TV if possible, otherwise SCART.
It may be necessary to configure the HD DVB-T terminal as some outputs are SCART or HDMI but not both.
Solution 3 : buy another recorder with a HD tuner !!! but that’s hot
