Hello, I am looking for a free software that would allow me to lend my USB key to friends so that they can read and modify the files but cannot copy/paste the files.

      No, it's not possible.

      Because in order to open the file, it means that at some point the file has to be transferred to the computer (as a temporary file), so... no, I don't see how that's possible.

      Either you allow free access to read it and therefore copy it.

      Or, you don't allow free access to read it, for example by encrypting the content and then even copying it will be useless since it's encrypted.
