Um.... in this case (if I understood correctly...) it seems to be more about a person impersonating someone else by using their identity and phone (which therefore goes beyond the usual scope of homonymy) and is not a "doubt" about the quality of the seller or buyer.......

So rather a "bad joke," a "prank," or outright identity theft... hence the requester's idea to try to identify the "bad joker"... or at least to confirm their doubts.....

And thus, my response suggesting that "if the damage isn't too significant," they should simply report the matter to the site, and otherwise file a complaint depending on the context... (while providing the maximum amount of evidence...)

As for searching by IP address, it will at most give them an indication of the city or area... or even country (depending on the discretion skills of the person involved...) and therefore will be "useless"!
