Hey guys!
I'm passionate about anime, and I'm looking for one that's really gory and violent. Otherwise, I love anticipation or post-apocalyptic anime.
In my favorites, there's of course the unavoidable Death Note, the very trendy Attack on Titan (which for me was THE revelation), not to mention Psycho-Pass, Tokyo Ghoul, Parasyte (sometimes a bit cheesy though), Elfen Lied, "Humanity has Declined" (sorry, I'm terrible at remembering names in Japanese) which in my opinion definitely wins the originality award, but unfortunately not the gore one, BTOOOM, Akame ga Kill, God Eater, Gantz... and many more.
On the contrary, I enjoyed watching SAO less (which is still quite decent), Accel World, School of the Dead (where the only interest is to look at boobs and little panties), Deadman Wonderland, etc.
If you have an anime that matches my tastes, I'm all ears!!! Thanks in advance :)

Ah, then there is a big cultural error to correct!
Berzerk is considered by many to be the best manga of all time, despite its very gory and bleak side.
The series may not emphasize the gory aspect throughout, as it is based on an arc called "The Golden Age" which is "soft" (considering the rest of the manga), but it remains very rich in armed combat that does not pull any punches. (It seems we see a horse trample a soldier's skull on the ground).
If you can't watch the anime, dive into the manga (not recommended for those under 16). -

I can make you a few suggestions:
- Koutetsujou No Kabaneri (currently airing anime, if you liked Attack On Titan and post-apocalyptic anime, it's worth watching)
- Pandora Hearts (a classic, a bit less known than Death Note)
- Mirai Nikki (you've probably seen it already, but you never know)
- Darker Than Black (essential, post-apocalyptic and gory)
- Black Lagoon (excellent)
- Shakugan No Shana
- 11eyes
- Aldnoah.Zero
- Baccano! (very twisted but it has gore)
- Dance in the Vampire Bund (beware, it's SHAFT)
- Gangsta (drugs, alcohol, prostitution, and assassination; that's all you need to know.)
- Grisaia no Kajitsu
- Ikkitousen (I don't remember if it's "Gore" or "Paper Clothes" but I think there are plenty of fights)
- Isuca (relatively ecchi)
- Jormungand
- Kaibutsu Oujo (the manga is better)
- Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai
- One Punch Man (gory but in the absurd comedy side)
- Overlord
- Owari no Seraph
- Chaos:Head (harem and ecchi but still quite gory)
- Utawarerumono (more towards the middle of the anime)
- Gokukoku no Brynhildr (not sure)
So, I think that covers it. You can take a look at my list but I mostly watch comedy/action series.

Popop Oh yeah, you're really giving me something to work with. Apart from Mirai Nikki which I've already seen (the main character drives me crazy, but the concept is interesting), I don't know any of the others.
Instinctively, I'm drawn to Koutetsujou No Kabaneri, given how you presented it. After that, I'll stick to your suggestions and prioritize the ones you rated highly.
What do Shaft, twisted, and paper clothes mean? (I did a Google search, but couldn't find an answer)

You're welcome, for the 3 terms, here are the definitions:
Twisted: literally "twisted". Baccano! is an anime "in disarray" where 3 stories happen at the same time.
Paper Clothes: used in several ecchi anime with battles, the clothes explode into shreds upon impact as if they were made of paper.
SHAFT: an anime studio. Each studio has its own way of presenting anime, and SHAFT's is always quite unique; you just have to like the style. Examples if you're curious: Nisekoi, Bakemonogatari, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Nisemonogatari, Kofuku Grafitti.
If I had to make a top 3 for the anime I mentioned, I would say:

- Black Lagoon
- Shakugan No Shana -

Since the beginning, I've been reading and none of the described anime is gory.

Speaking of classics, another one just came to mind: Hokuto no Ken! (Fist of the North Star).
It should be watched in VOSTFR, as the French dub was censored to such an extent that it's worth watching for fun. (The voice actors were allowed to say whatever they wanted to soften the series, which was meant for children in France...)-
Meh, it may be a classic, but on the gore side, it's completely censored. The injuries are black on a colored background and the blood is multicolored...
- For Fist of the North Star, I recommend the 3 OVAs SHIN HOKUTO NOKEN
1 The Idolatrous Fortress
2 The Forbidden Technique
3 The Weight of Compassion
each episode lasts about an hour and is uncensored, the fights are much more violent with dismemberments, heads exploding and blood spraying, and especially when Ken gets angry, it's truly a slaughter!!!!

If you're looking for a truly gory anime, I would recommend Corpse Party and Blood-C.
It’s ridiculously over the top, even comical, as the violence is so prevalent, but it's the closest thing to the term "gore."
There isn't really a storyline in these animes; it feels like the creators just had fun trying to make the bloodiest anime scene possible. -
So kyon0043, I looked a bit at what you suggested, and ultimately I'm not convinced, even though I haven't finished your list yet. To keep it brief
- Black Lagoon is not really my thing, but the anime does look pretty cool in the action genre. I'll check that out while looking for a gory anime.
- Shakugan No Shana, I'm not too fond of the character design, and the atmosphere is quite light, not at all oppressive like I like.
- Aldnoah.Zero, interesting... but I'm not a fan of mecha. I wasn't thrilled by the concept.
- Baccano, I couldn't get into it. The train accident story didn't motivate me enough, even though the anime seems very well made.
- Gangsta is not really my thing, I'm looking for more anime that lean towards the supernatural or science fiction
- Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai... well, this one is a bit weird x) but I didn't connect with it because of the atmosphere. I'm looking for anime with unsettling and disturbing vibes, this one feels too lighthearted.
- One Punch Man: Awesome! I recommend it, a well-made parody of superhero anime. For those who enjoy dark humor and the sixth degree.
- Overlord, a variant of SAO. I admit it's not bad... but it's still not what I'm looking for
- Owari no Seraph Yes, it's not bad.. But it still lacks pain and monstrosity.

Oh yeah, Code Geass and Phantom, I hadn't thought of that, for the rest:
- Chaos;Head: I already suggested it earlier
- Muv Luv Alternative Total Eclipse: yes, but you have to like the style and there’s mecha
- Hakuouki: no, there's not really any gore and it's a reverse harem (one girl and 10 guys)
- Sankarea: one single gore scene, the rest is romance
- Guilty Crown: I didn't see much gore in there, and it was so boring that I dropped it halfway
- Steins;Gate: same studio as Chaos;Head, but there's no gore in there, though there’s mystery and paranormal
- Mai-HiME: Gore? There's nothing really gory in there. If I remember correctly, it’s comedy/ecchi/harem/romance
- Togainu no Chi: I don't know it, but according to the synopsis, it's a yaoi, so I wouldn't recommend it
- Devil Survivor: you can give it a try, but I watched a few episodes and there wasn't any gore
- Fate/Zero: yes, there's gore, but regarding the story, I don't think you'll like it, and to understand the story, it's better to have seen Fate/Stay Night first, and the latter is really low on gore. However, this anime reminds me of "Shingetsutan Tsukihime" which is a gory/horror/violence anime, but it also has some romance, up to you to decide.
And I’ll add Ookami Kakushi, an anime that I also watched a few episodes of and it was quite gory
Anyway, try Code Geass, Phantom, Muv Luv Alternative Total Eclipse, Ookami Kakushi, Fate/Zero, and Shingetsutan Tsukihime, the rest, I don't think you'll like it. -

Ken the Survivor, not gory in the uncensored French version? We must have watched a different one; in any case, it's a classic post-apocalyptic story, and the muscular and grimy features enhance the disturbing and visceral nature of the limb explosions, brains, and other limb chop-offs...
Ikkitousen, ecchi with no interest other than counting the appearances of little panties per episode, or even per minute...
Bleach not mentioned in the gore? Pure shonen, not specifically gory but doesn't skimp on blood and injuries
More recently, there's a Highlander anime that's quite gory, and the gore seemed to be its only interest.
But then again, neither post-apocalypse nor gore guarantees quality; there are some gems worth knowing. Ken (at least the movie) is one of them.
There’s also Jubei Ninpuchiu/Ninja Scroll (start with the old OAVs before diving into the modern versions of lesser interest and narrative intensity).
Otherwise, The Infinite Resident, still on the theme of medieval Japan, is quite tortured and grim with many perverse sword slashings...
Amer Beton (best experienced in manga), is trash with an aspect of gore, seinen about the harshness of cities in Japan and the effects of urbanism on street children.
Akira, if only for Tetsuo who swells up. Otherwise, it's post-apocalyptic with a concrete storyline and presentation. Moreover, it's one of the first Japanese animes that came to France.
Kenshin, despite a smooth and clean appearance, has some gory passages and narrative horrors... in any case, it's a masterpiece that brilliantly utilizes the themes and culture of feudal Japan (among other things, the subtlety of the romantic relationship between the hero and the heroine).
The series of 2 OAVs of Cyber City ODEO, a sci-fi police story blending violent and sometimes gory genres.
In post-apocalypse not to be missed, the mangas of Shirow, their potential adaptations into anime, though largely of lesser quality (Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, Dominion Tank Police, Orion—rather a blend of contemporary and mythological genres).
X by CLAMP, post-apocalyptic, gory, and kawaii, well, it’s CLAMP...
Spriggan OAV, post-apocalyptic and gore focused on heavy combat. A huge visual kick.
Blood: The Last Vampire, sci-fi gore whose interest also lies in the animation technique used.
Nausicaä, a masterpiece of post-apocalypse, not really gory since Miyazaki is behind it. If the movie has aged a bit (better to read the manga), it's still very good.
Ergo Proxy, also post-apocalyptic and quite puzzling; you really have to hang in there for the storyline. Not particularly gory, but it’s from Manglobe, the team behind Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, so it's a must-see. Atmosphere, storyline, and animation are top-notch.
21st Boys, even though I've only seen the films, the mangas have been awarded, so they’re not messing around. Gory, yes; grim, yes.
Silent Möbius, post-apocalyptic, just for the character design by Asamia (movie and series).
The 2nd and 3rd films (first DVD) of the Animatrix series (animation films released on DVD between Matrix 1 & 2 created by various American, Japanese, and one European creator (film 3)).-
Afro Samurai, abused and gory. 2 films but I only liked the first one. Not a masterpiece except for gore enthusiasts.
Baku the Grappler, yes there is blood and punches in all parts. I'm not a fan of the design but it's quite popular as an anime. I much prefer Keinichi (not gory at all) for its crazy take on the same theme (the ultimate fighter).
There's something recent like Attack on Titan but I can’t remember the title. Really gory post-apocalyptic where humanity lives in trains to survive hordes of zombies. I watched the first few but it didn’t grab me.
Urutsukidoji, porn gore with a storyline and rapist demons. Really gory (at least the first arc has something other than gore and sex).
Project Arms, shonen sci-fi with no surprises at first glance, quite bloody with a not-so-bad storyline and lots of fights. The characters are cybernetic mutants with ARMS grafted onto a limb to gain more power. Their ARMS is supposed to be intelligent and feeds off their anger or something like that but actually the truth is that...
Megalopolis, Bastard (a crazy medieval fantasy with gore and metal band names as character names, especially worth reading in manga for the art from Studio Loud in School but it doesn’t translate too badly in series)... and many others. -

Thanks, kutsushita, I've seen some of the animes and movies you mentioned. Bleach, which I started watching but dropped, disgusted by the fillers. Nausicaä (the movie) which I loved, and Baki the Grappler, like you, I'm not a fan of the design, and I find the concept gets old quickly.
Kira I’ve heard good things about, the same for Ergo Proxy, Ninja Scroll, and Afro Samurai. I’ll look into your list and come back to share my thoughts.
I watched a bit of Phantom, but I didn't get hooked. Then I started Naru Taru, in which I was promised violence, suicide, and torture, but so far it’s not really that. After that, I quickly stopped on Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman, which is pretty good in terms of gore, but the story didn't blow me away.
If you have a gem, don't hesitate, gore and post-apocalyptic aside.

Yo Kutsushita, I’ve pretty much finished your list
Ken (the movie at least) is too retro for me, the animation repulses me just as much as the music regarding the anime.
Amer béton, I’ve seen the movie which is pretty good. The drawings, the colors, everything is raw yet childlike.
Ninja Scroll and Lone Wolf and Cub, I didn’t get into them. Ninja and samurai animes might be too classic for me? On the contrary, I really liked Afro Samurai, its cultural hybridization captivated me almost as much as Samurai Champloo which I already knew.
Akira, unfortunately, I only found a version mutilated by the French dub. I still enjoyed it, even if I didn’t understand everything...
Kenshin sorry I couldn’t get into it, it immediately bored me, same for X by Clamp.
Spriggan, very nice to look at. The plot isn’t bad and includes a nice reading of a passage from the Old Testament, that’s always nice.
Blood: The Last Vampire, I couldn’t find it streaming :/
Ergo Proxy Amazing, a cyberpunk anime or very close to cyberpunk, anyway good science fiction with a dark atmosphere. Totally my style, just needs a bit more violence damn it! And I didn’t understand everything either...
Silent Möbius didn’t catch my interest, I don’t remember why. Animatrix either, I didn’t like the animation.

Personally, I discovered not long ago Mushimushi; it's very different from the gory anime I'm looking for, but it's a very poetic anime, well done, really very touching without being cheesy or overly sentimental! I recommend it.
