Hello everyone,
I am a customer who just purchased (a day ago) a brand new Canon i-Sensys LBP2900 laser printer.
During the printing of a certain number of pages (around 42), I noticed that hot white smoke was coming out of the printer, specifically from the area where the toner is installed.
I would like you to explain to me whether this phenomenon is normal or not?
Will this phenomenon last too long?
Should I return to the seller to exchange the printer for another one, knowing that I have a one-year warranty?
Note that the printing is successful (the quality of the printed pages is indeed good)
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely
Ahmed GUESSOUS

Hello,
According to the printer manual, it is possible to observe such "smoke" which would be due to the humidity of the paper; according to Canon, using drier paper would eliminate the problem.

Hello,
Thank you for the info. In that case, should I use a type of paper dedicated to LASER printers?
Regarding the printer manual, on which page can we find this information? If possible, could you send me the manual in digital format?
Thank you.
Best regards
Ahmed

Hello, I have a Canon i-Sensys LBP2900 printer that I bought about 5 months ago. It prints a black page, and I would like you to resolve this issue. Thank you.
Hi
on laser printers, the toner needs to be heated for printing
it heats up enormously, but there shouldn't be any smoke
check that you haven't forgotten to remove a protective plastic or something like that
if it persists, it's back to customer service

Production and profitability leave no room for quality

Sure, thanks for the advice. In fact, I've checked everything: there's no leftover plastic, no burning smell during printing. The printing goes normally and without alarming noises (except for that smoke, of course).
I wonder if this smoke is dust smoke? Read the article.

Anyway, I'm going to go back to the dealer for more explanations.
Otherwise, are there any users of this printer (Canon i-Sensys LBP2900) among you? Have they not found issues with "the first ultra-fast print"?
Do you know of another one of better quality that doesn’t have any malfunctions?
Thanks
