Hello everyone,
I’m currently working on a layout in Excel... not the best idea, you’ll think, but it’s my job that requires it.
I work in the "Page Layout" view to make visualization easier.
I’d like, when I merge several cells (horizontally), to be able to adjust the height of the cell to the text (by clicking between the two lines on the left), however, when I use this method, the cell is reduced in a fixed way (whether I have three lines, one, or ten).
What can I do?
- I’d indeed like these merged cells (across the width of my page) to adapt (in height) to their content.
- I’d (even better) not MERGE, but have the text automatically wrap when we reach the edge (of the page)... but I can’t find how to do it.
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
Set column B to the desired width, then select it and in 'Format Cells / Alignment' check 'Wrap text automatically'.
If you don’t want multi-line text to be split across several cells when pasting, you should paste into the formula editing area rather than directly onto the sheet.

Continuously trying, we eventually succeed.
So the more it fails, the more chances we have that it will work. (Les Shadoks)
In addition to the thanks (yes, yes, it can be done !!!), remember to set it to resolved. Thank you-
Thank you for your response.
But the example shown in my latest images is very simplified. If you look at my first image, you will see that unfortunately we must keep all the columns in order to write the report.
I had therefore "merged" the cells across the desired width. But now, it's impossible to adjust, and it's impossible to have a cell height adapted to the text :(
