Hello, I am going to Spain and I will make a stop on my return at Perthus to buy alcohol and cigarettes
My two questions are:
Are the shops open on Sunday?
What quantity can we bring back?

    Hello,
    Stores are open on Sundays and the limit is now what can be considered personal consumption.
    There are no more quotas to respect in Europe, but if you come through with a 38-ton truck full of cigarette cartons, they might not appreciate it ;-)

      If you exceed these quantities in one or more of these categories, customs may ask you during a check:
      -the nature of your profession;
      -the reasons why you are bringing back these quantities;
      -the location of the tobacco and possibly the means of transport you used,
      -the purchase receipts for the products;
      -and more generally any proof that it is not a purchase for resale.
      If customs considers that it is a commercial activity, you will have to pay a fine, plus consumption duties if you want to keep the purchased goods.

      Taken from CCM ;-)

      One can therefore exceed as long as it is for personal consumption as long as one does not exaggerate...
      It is the husband of a colleague who is a customs officer who informs me of the quantities. I live close to the border.

      The customs considers that it is for personal use for one's own needs when the quantities do not exceed the following limits:

      Cigarettes: 800 units, or 4 cartons
      Cigars: 200 units
      Cigarillos (cigars weighing a maximum of 3 grams each): 400 units
      Smoking tobacco: 1 kg

      You have to tell the customs officers. They didn't understand the same thing as you did ;-)

      I'll still explain:
      The customs consider it to be for personal use for your own needs when the quantities do not exceed the following limits:
      Cigarettes: 800 units, or 4 cartons

      If it's less than 4 cartons, they don't ask questions, say nothing, and let you pass.

      If you exceed these quantities [...] If customs considers it to be a commercial activity, you will have to pay a fine [...]
      If it's more than 4 cartons, customs will wonder if it's for personal consumption. If that's the case, they let us pass.
