Mouse Scrolling Disabled

Good evening everyone,
I'm stuck on something silly!
When I select an Excel cell, the scroll (scrolling with the mouse wheel) doesn’t work anymore.
So it’s impossible to efficiently look for another cell in a large table.
Only the keyboard arrows or the scroll bars work.

Some tests already done:
1/ It happens with all my Excel files
2/ I changed the mouse, nothing works
3/ The scroll works fine as long as I do not select a cell.

- Fix the shutters and remove them.

Hello,

in the advanced options / Editing options, don't you have 'Zoom with IntelliMouse wheel' checked?
For point 3), you'll need to explain to me how you manage to have no cell selected (?!?)

  Thank you for the response. IntelliMouse is unchecked.
  Sorry, let me clarify point 3) the scrolling issue occurs when I start a formula inside a cell. Indeed, if the cell is only selected, everything is normal.

Another solution: Click on the cell and press F2 to edit it instead of clicking on the formula bar. You should be able to scroll normally.

Another possibility: Did you check this box in File > Options > Advanced? It seems to me that in French the section is called "Editing Options".

  Thank you, I just tested it but it still has no effect. My colleague on the other hand doesn't have this problem. I can definitely feel the troublesome key combination :(

  Another option to try: Right-click on the bar at the bottom of Excel (the progress bar, or the area where Sum and Average are indicated). Check that Scroll Lock is OFF.

  Same here, the box is checked (I've tested both versions - checked / unchecked) + control + scroll in both situations. Nothing! I'm afraid this is going to end with uninstalling/reinstalling Excel...

  Is this a file created with Excel 2013? If so, Excel 2016 is known for causing havoc with compatibility with Excel 2013 or 2010. It could also be that. Is the problem the same with a document created with Excel 2016?

  While waiting to find a solution, here’s a somewhat crude “work-around”:
  - Click on the cell and then click on the formula bar to edit it
  - Write your formula
  - If you roughly know the position of your cells, you can press F5
  - A window opens and in the reference field, type in a cell close to your data.
  
  For example: if you want to sum from A500 to A510 approximately, but you’re not exactly sure which cells. Instead of scrolling down with the arrows, press F5 and look for A514. Excel will then directly display the cell and you’ll be able to make your selection manually. Press Esc to return to your starting cell (don’t forget the sign if your formula continues because otherwise Esc will reset your selection).

On Windows 7 2010, I managed (and still not systematically) to reproduce the defect while in 'Page Layout' view.
Is this the case, and does it disappear in Normal view?

  On Excel 2016 W7 I can't scroll if I click on the formula bar to write. The only way for me to scroll afterwards is either to enter the cell with F2 or re-click on the cell to make the prompt appear again and then scroll.
  But it's true that until now it was natural and I never really questioned it, to be honest.

  Attention, it's Jauster speaking and not Vincem13 (the author of the topic). I meant to say that I had the same issue as him, but it doesn't shock me. Since I no longer have Excel 2010, I don't know if it's specific to Excel 2016. I'm in Normal view when it won't scroll.

  That's why I asked for his version. There are so many oddities in 2016 that nothing surprises me anymore.
  Since I only have 2010, I need really special conditions to reach this blockage.

  So I've made progress on various forums in English and French. But still no solution.
  To be more precise, scrolling with the mouse wheel is blocked only in cell editing or editing via the formula bar. The only way to navigate is by using the arrow keys or the scroll bars. With the huge files I use (200 columns, 1500 rows), you can imagine the hassle and the waste of time....

Hello,
To be sure that it doesn't work:
Click on the cell to edit, click on the formula bar, and click again on the cell. A small blinking bar should appear, and then you can scroll.

Is it not working?

I'm a bit late, but I had the same problem and while looking for a solution, I ended up here (don't worry, I didn't hurt myself). I also had a recurring drag-and-drop issue, as well as slow copy-pasting. While searching for answers to these other two problems, I found this:

And it fixed not only my drag-and-drop issue but also the scrolling with the wheel on Excel!!! Magical!!!!
