Hello everyone,
I want to get my TV sound through my Harman Kardon AURA speaker (old version with jack and SPDIF optical inputs).
My TV (PHILIPS PZ1) does not have an SPDIF optical port but has coaxial, so a direct connection is out of the question.
I tried connecting the RCA out from the TV to the jack in of the speaker, but it doesn't work...
For your information, I have a Freebox Revolution connected to the TV via HDMI.
Do you have a solution, if there is one, to help me achieve my goal?
Thanks!!!
See you soon,
Flo

Hello,
"I tried to connect the RCA out from the TV" are you sure these RCA outputs?
"My TV (PHILIPS PZ1) doesn't have optical SPDIF but coaxial, so it's dead for a direct connection."
No, it's not dead, you have this:
https://www.amazon.fr/Ligawo-%C2%AE-Toslink-SPDIF-convertisseur/dp/B00548PAR6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1454403117&sr=8-2&keywords=convertisseur+coaxial+toslink
Another solution:
Your TV also has a headphone output, buy a Jack 3.5<--> Jack 3.5 cable
The jack will be plugged into the headphone output of the TV (usually on the side), the other into the input of your speaker
In principle, when inserting the jack, the sound from the TV speakers is turned off, otherwise you will need to turn them off manually for better sound balance (see audio menu).
You shouldn't turn up the TV volume too high, risk of saturating the input of the soundbar => distortion, and rather increase the volume of the soundbar
Advantage: inexpensive and you can adjust the volume with the TV remote

Thank you, Andy!
Indeed, I just ordered the converter hoping that it will work.
I did try the trick of connecting the headphone jack output from the TV to the input jack of the speaker, but for a reason I can't understand, nothing is coming out and the TV sound remains.
I couldn't find anything in the TV settings to change that and I tested all the possible settings on the speaker...
Have a great day!
