Hello,
I recently reformatted my computer (tower), using my Windows 7 64-bit that I purchased with the computer.
I have Lightroom for editing my photos (I've been using it for several years and never had a problem)
I'm trying to import my photos onto my external hard drive; some photos will import and others will not.
I tested importing my photos into Lightroom on my laptop, same issue—photos won't import from my external hard drive.
The photos can be opened with Camera Raw in Photoshop and are editable in Photoshop, but often I need to work in batch and import them into Lightroom.
When I put the photos that won't import onto my USB stick (random selection since I only have 32GB of USB and 3,000GB of photos) and import them onto my laptop, it works.
I was wondering if it was a HDD issue or file permission issue. I tried changing the permissions on my HDD, but it doesn't work. I also tried transferring the photos to my C:/ (a 500GB SSD), but that didn’t import either (only my USB stick worked)
So I don’t know what to do anymore,
I’m taking my chance with this forum.
Thank you,
Olivier
p.s.: In the meantime, I bought another HDD to transfer my photos from amazon.ca, I'm still waiting for my HDD.
Configuration: Windows 7

There are over 200 different types of RAW formats. It is quite possible that the software you are using does not have the correct filter installed to open certain types of RAW...
Try updating it. Often, this adds new filters to the software.

I have the latest version of Lightroom, the same version I had before I reformatted my computer, and the raw files were imported and could be edited before I reformatted.
This is what happens when I try to import the files that I think are erroneous
(1) Import files (I tried drag and drop and the import button)
(2) Lightroom recognizes that there are 565 raw photos (I even tried to import just one, but it gives the same result)
(3) Lightroom starts importing the photos, but nothing happens, the progress bar stays at 1% (at the top left)
I already tried importing for a whole night, but nothing happened, plus if it takes a night to import 500 photos, there is a problem haha
Thanks again
