Permission issue when trying to replace a .DLL file.

Hello,

I wanted to launch battle.net but I received an error message saying that WINHTTP.DLL is missing.
So I downloaded it from DLL files and wanted to extract it to the system32 folder but when I got to that point, I was denied permission. I don't know why.
I am the admin of this PC and the only user account, so I right-click on the system32 folder to check the permissions and I do not have full control either on the user or on Administrators. Then I right-click on the sys32 folder/security/advanced/edit at the top right/advanced, and then after searching, I tried user and administrator but nothing works when I want to copy WINHTTP.DLL into system32 after validating admin rights (I still do not have full control and I still do not know why) and it tells me:

You need permission to perform this action?

And now I am stuck, I have looked on various forums (winhttp.dll, how to replace it, how to grant myself rights even if I knew how to do it, I thought maybe I did something wrong)

And even with the regsvr32 winhttp.dll command I get a different error

Good evening,

right-click on the Start button or press Windows key + X
command prompt (admin)
type:

net user administrator /active:yes (then press the enter key)

try placing your .dll

if admin rights issue:
check if you see your user account like this:
right-click on the Start button
file explorer
right-click on the (C) drive then properties
security tab (here you see all the accounts)
Users (your Name) (select it)
then click on Edit
and check all the allow boxes
apply ok
you may need to restart your computer

Good evening

To start with, you shouldn't download those dll files from commercial sites as they are specifically related to Windows 10. Your problem seems to stem from the fact that your Windows does not appear to be activated, am I wrong?

Indeed, now after restarting etc. I went to activation to check your progress and tada!

It is currently impossible to activate Windows. Please try again later. If this does not work, contact technical support.
Error code 0xC004F012

How is that possible since when upgrading to Windows 10 Pro, I logged in and logically, I shouldn't need to enter a key etc. since I did that when I purchased Windows 8???

Do you have a solution?

I specify Windows 10 Pro on an SSD in C: and a 3TB data drive next to it in E:

https://www.commentcamarche.net/informatique/windows/459-modifier-les-droits-d-acces-a-un-fichier-ou-un-dossier-dans-windows/

I can't add in step 3, maybe that could help you help me :)

another solution:

Try using the takeown and icacls commands..
Draw inspiration from this thread (Vista and Windows 7):

take your .dll like this :

https://www.pcastuces.com/pratique/astuces/1766.htm

run adw cleaner here :

https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/securite/2759-adwcleaner/

Click the Scan button and let the tool analyze the system
Click the Clean button to remove the detected items
Confirm by clicking OK to close the programs

The cleaning is underway, let the tool work.

A warning will inform you why you were infected, click OK
A restart is requested, confirm by clicking OK
Upon restart, the removal report will be displayed
view or delete

and c cleaner here :
https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/5647-ccleaner/

cleaning + registry + restart computer

just a small setting:
open cleaner
options
monitoring
uncheck the monitoring
ignore the alert message.

then put the dll.

otherwise uninstall clean and reinstall your game

Since yesterday I've tried several methods:

Yours, mine, and now at the launch of the session I have a Netframework that is not functioning properly with the corresponding error message.

I can't uninstall or reinstall the battle.net software either, it always tells me about the missing WINHTTP.DLL file.

And a new thing "unable to activate windows at this time. Please try again later. If that doesn't work, contact technical support.
Error code 0xC004F012

Knowing that Windows 10 has been activated for a while with updates done correctly, etc.

While searching a bit on the internet I can't find a real solution to the problem.

Do you have any idea for this troublesome WINHTTP.DLL?

you need to activate windows
then perform the windows updates
Netframework is part of the updates

retrieve your license key and activate windows:

To retrieve the key:

1. To access it, first right-click on the start button. Then select "Command Prompt (Admin)"

2. Type this command: powershell "(Get-WmiObject -query ‘select * from SoftwareLicensingService’).OA3xOriginalProductKey"

3. You will see your serial number.

To activate your windows.

Still in the command prompt, enter the following command: SLUI

or this one:

http://christians-steffen.fr/telecharger/telecharger-cleproductkey-de-pierre13/

CleProductKey.exe allows you to see the ProductKey (activation key) of your PC.
It may happen that you have lost the ProductKey number or that the label is no longer readable...
This tool will allow you to obtain a Notes.txt file containing the list of ProductKeys of the software installed on the PC

I've reinstalled Windows 10 several times due to various issues after about ten days following the installation, and this problem hadn't happened to me yet...

So I have one question: does Windows 10 work properly on a non-OEM PC?

I don't have any hardware issues, but with each reinstallation, the system stays stable, up-to-date, no modifications on my part, etc., for between 2 and 15 days, and then all of a sudden, for no reason, it crashes by itself.

I don't understand; the PC was working very well on 7, 8, and 8.1.

Good evening
Re pistou

Remove the brackets and it will be better, do a copy and paste using right-click (Get-WmiObject -query ‘select * from SoftwareLicensingService’).OA3xOriginalProductKey

I removed the brackets and with PowerShell the command is still wrong and without PowerShell "it's unexpected"

I used the software provided above but it gives me two series numbers, one current and one installation.

The two provided do not work to activate Windows.

Hello headshot

Have you managed to activate your Windows 10 Pro?

Disable your Avira antivirus or uninstall it and restart your PC to enable Defender by default; you can always reinstall it later
Make sure to have the latest updates

I can remove the launcher but not the antivirus, and for your information, it no longer launches since the missing WINHTTP.DLL issue.

And now it is no longer missing but is not designed to run on Windows or contains an error....

And no, still not activated, I actually had a glimmer of hope after a CHKDSK C: /R /F, I was supposed to enter my phone number to activate Windows, but after entering the code, I still have "activate" highlighted, and when I click on it, nothing happens.

But first, you need to uninstall Avira with CCleaner
And all you have to do next is to upgrade to fix all this
You will download this link to upgrade >>https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows10
You click on the download link and it will download an ISO version that you can run directly on your PC without having to burn it normally

I know it's normal to see this error display since you replaced this file.

Also check in your task manager if Avira is not starting up. Right-click on Start, Task Manager, under the Startup tab!

If I delete the folder as an admin in C: and then do a cleanup with CCleaner, will that work?

Before the upgrade, back up all your personal files on an external drive, and after the upgrade, only your Windows
If I take a good look, you don't have any programs installed?

I click on the setup of the ISO while being in my session, it offered me to keep nothing and I clicked next, now for the moment it's trying to get updates.

We'll see what it turns out to be.

Hello

First of all, is it activated? And what have you installed besides Windows?
speedup.dll may be related to your antivirus Avira?
Leave Defender on by default before installing another antivirus because you need to check for updates, and once it’s up to date, you can install another one later
Is your antivirus Avira free?
0
headshot Posted messages 257 Status Membre 2 > beber67470 Posted messages 5123 Registration date   Status Membre Last intervention

Yes, it activated itself in digital rights management, look at the screenshot, you can see everything I installed.

How can I tell if it's related to Avira?
After a complete scan, no threats were found.

I reinstalled Java, but it didn't change anything.

On the internet, it apparently seems to be a virus problem???

Defender was automatically updated after the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro; I disabled Avira and ran a Defender scan = 0 Threats.

Uninstall your Java, what is it for?? It's a real sieve, and don't just install anything because apparently you've messed everything up again, and is your Avira a free version or not? If it's free, uninstall it and Defender will be enough for now. After uninstallation, restart your PC to reactivate Defender and see if you still have these errors before doing anything else. Stay in a standard configuration for now, and we'll see for the next steps later. And Defender does the same thing as your Avira.
