Unable to modify text in Photoshop
clogfan -
Hi
I have a problem with Photoshop, I created a text, a long paragraph, and now it's impossible to edit it. When I click on it using the text function, it creates a new layer and it no longer has the T shape next to it but looks like a real layer :'(
Do you have the solution...?
Thanks!
Configuration: Windows 8 / Firefox 43.0

Firstly, you open the text tool. You expand the small box that allows you to see how your layers are organized. You double-click on the layer where you want to write.

Hello,
Apart from the previous answers, namely that the text has been rasterized (right click > rasterize layer), there is another solution.
It is possible that you have locked your text layer. Next to the name of your layer, you should see a lock if it is locked. You just need to click again on the lock that is at the top of the layers window, below the blending modes.
Otherwise, right-click on your text layer and check the different options it provides...

It may be an old topic, but oh well! I've had the same problem for several years. It doesn't depend on the version of Photoshop. I've encountered the same issue since CS2 and now I'm using CC2023, nor on the OS (XP, 7, 10).
It's extremely random and I've NEVER found a solution!!! The text layer pixelizes by itself when closing the file. And when you reopen it, bingo, the text layer is pixelized.
The layer locking trick doesn't work, nor do the preferences resets. I just found a suggestion on the Adobe forums that advises deleting the FontFeatureCache subfolder located in c:\Users\your_username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2023, then quitting Photoshop. A new folder will be created (curiously, the name is slightly different since it’s called "FontFeatureCacheFontAttributes") upon restart.
We'll see what happens...
