Hi, can someone explain to me what 'Spread Spectrum' is? And should I modify it in the BIOS? (mine is disabled). Thanks.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

I worked at HP in the 2000s, and spread spectrum is just a trick, a sleight of hand that allows manufacturers to pass the EMC test. It only exists for that purpose. So it can be removed without issue; it's actually better.
To simplify, basically it involves slightly varying the processor's frequency all the time, for example 2.9 GHz, then 3.0 GHz, then 3.1 GHz.
The testing device that checks that the waves at 3.0 GHz are not too strong is fooled, as it only sees 3.0 GHz one-third of the time. As a result, the obtained value is divided by 3, and the machine is considered a machine that doesn’t emit too many waves.
So it can be advised to remove spread spectrum.
