Hello,
For some time now, my Mac has been having trouble recognizing my WD My Passport 1TB external hard drive.
But now it's not recognized at all, and I have to go through Disk Utility.
When I try to repair the disk, my Mac tells me it's impossible, to back up as many files as possible and to format it. Fortunately, I made a backup of my data a little earlier.
However, when I try to format it, it's impossible.
When I go through partitioning, 1 partition, in MSDOS FAT, it gives me the following error message: it's impossible to write on the last block of the device...
In this case, what should I do? I've tried to look into whether others have had the same problem, but the solutions mentioned don't seem to work for me...
Is the hard drive permanently damaged?
Thank you in advance for your responses...
Configuration: Mac OS X (10.9.5) / Safari 7.1.2

Hi,
Check the link to launch GSmartControl and perform a hard drive check.
https://alternativeto.net/software/crystaldiskinfo/?platform=mac
Following the same format, you can also connect it to a PC and run CrystalDiskInfo Portable.
It's possible that the hard drive is reaching the end of its life.
