Hello,

My 13-year-old amplifier has been crackling recently regardless of the source (CD, FM, AUX). This crackling diminishes a bit after several minutes of operation but comes back randomly. The crackling mainly concerns the right channel.
I am thinking of disassembling the amplifier and blowing air on some components with a contact cleaner to see where the problem lies.
If you have suggestions on specific areas to focus on, I thank you in advance.
Best regards,

Configuration: Linux / Firefox 42.0

    Good evening,

This could be from a capacitor or a transistor, as you mentioned, first clean it with a small gas blower to check the capacitors; fuse; also see if there are any scorched components.

Thank you sawsix for the leads, I will test them tomorrow. Otherwise, I just switched the speakers and now the system is working normally whereas a minute ago the sound was terrible on the right speaker. The problem is random.

This problem is common with transistors in their final stage. But it's not the component that costs the most in the amplifier; it is equipped with two Toshiba transistors (at €12 each), a pair of capacitors (at €20 each), etc., it adds up quickly, we'll see.
