This is a little cry for help from a budding DIYer. Let me set the scene for you:
A Marantz PM5005 amplifier that I connect to a turntable and speakers, but it won't come out of standby mode (the LED is red, the brightness does not blink)
I've tried a bunch of things:
- manually coming out of standby mode (direct source on both the remote and the amplifier)
- redoing all my setup
- checking all connections
- verifying that all other components were working
- checking that the output was indeed MM
- the equipment is not old/damaged (it just came from the store, and worked perfectly a week ago, before going into this standby mode)
Anyway, I'm at my wit's end, with no results... HELP, SAVE ME!

Hello,
Unplug everything (speakers - turntable and power cable)
Press the power button on the amp for 30 seconds.
Plug the power cable back in.
Press Power
What does the indicator light do?
Turn the Input Selector knob
What happens?

Hello (and thank you for your help!),
I just tested the operation, the indicator is a constant red (no blinking or flashing), nothing happens when I turn the input selector knob :,( ...
thank you again for your help!

Just so you know, direct source only cancels out the effect of the bass and treble knobs, maybe loudness.

When you turn it on using the button on the front of the amp, does it work? Do you turn the input and does the blue LED change?

If so, it works fine.

The thing is, if it is on and you use 'standby' on the t-c to turn it off, it does not turn back on with 'power'.

Also, make sure to check the correct device since the t-c can control multiple ones.

I hope this helps you =)

Hello,
No, precisely, no blue LED, just the red one, again and again.

And I have already checked that I was indeed controlling the right device.. :,(
Thank you for your response.

Nothing is lost...
on the contrary a failure while the equipment is new and under warranty is better than the same breakdown after the warranty period has expired.

Hello,
Yes, but this amplifier is not even a month old, it's frustrating! But it's true that it's better now.
Thanks again for your help :)

Hello.

It's a common issue that can also be found in TNT decoders. These are 2 small electrolytic capacitors of 470 µf to 1000 µF / 25 V which, when defective, disrupt the standby circuit. There's no other solution than to replace them.

This is just a suggestion . . . Bye

Re.

To try nonetheless ==>

Press and hold the SOURCE DIRECT button for more than 5 seconds to disable the automatic standby mode. The power indicator will flash once.

Otherwise, contact Sand_7200 via private messaging, who apparently had the same issue with this amplifier, namely a manipulation on the remote control

Always provided that the failure is not electronic.

See you...
