Hello,
I just installed Pear OS 8 (I know the system is no longer supported but I really like the design) and the system is in English, I can't change it to French.
When I go to "language support" and try to change the language, an error message appears indicating that language support is not fully installed and prompts me to install it.
So I click on "install" but I get another error message with a no entry sign. The window says "gnome language selector, requires installation of untrusted packages, this requires installing packages from unauthenticated sources."
The details are as follows: hunspell-en-ca thunderbird-locale-en thunderbird-locale-en-gb thunderbird-locale-en-us
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,
Pear OS has been bought, the buyer is officially unknown but it's easy to guess their name. And for what purpose? It's not to make apple-pear compote but to make it disappear!
Check the file /etc/apt/source.list to see which repositories are enabled and if necessary, modify the file to point to still active Ubuntu repositories.
If there are specific repositories in the mix, then it's doomed, as the new owner of the pear has probably rushed to delete them...
Seriously, take a look at Elementary OS if the macOS-like look appeals to you. At least there, you'll have a distribution that doesn't simply disguise Ubuntu as macOS and that is currently maintained.
