Hello, I bought a converter, I have a Handycam camera and I want to put these films on a DVD. Do I need to convert them to a different file?
Thank you, I am completely new to this field and have no experience at all so I really need help.
Thank you if someone is very patient to show me how to do it.
Have a good day

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 41.0

Hello, I would like to know the camera type and brand of the converter.

Sorry Glandu, you can see that I'm not very strong, well at least I managed to come back to the forum which is already quite an accomplishment for me.
So I bought an Ion Video 2 PC High Definition Video converter. The camera is a Sony Handycam.
Thank you for your attention, it's very kind of you.

Good evening and welcome as a new member
Is your Sony Handycam camcorder cassette-based? If so, here’s my service overview to get started: to transfer content from an analog VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, Hi8 cassette or an analog video stream, you need to connect the camcorder or VCR or any other device to an “external box” that handles the “hardware” conversion of the “analog stream” into “digital”, and then connect the box to the computer via a USB cable. The file is converted to MPEG2, a format that is easy to burn and compatible with all players, as well as allowing for editing with editing software
Connect the box to the camcorder or VCR using an S-VHS connection (recommended) or composite (less good) (yellow RCA) and a cord for audio (2 RCA red, white). For the VCR, you need a Scart connection with an adapter or cable with the "out" direction or with an inverter in out output S-VHS or composite yellow RCA (less good) plus sound, two RCA outputs red white
Remember to select PAL to have color
I recommend the Dazzle video recorder box
You can also find it used on the web and resell it when you no longer need it
There are exotic products like USB sticks and 4 wires, cheaper but beware, as they are often a source of problems based on reading messages from desperate members on the forum

As the format is 4:3, the image quality can only be judged on a living room TV screen. Here’s the link:
