Hello, I just bought a new “ASUS Windows 8.1” computer. I started entering various information, including several passwords, and I closed the computer.
When I reopened it, I used a password that I had noted down, but it was refused (possibly a mistake on my part when writing it down!).
I am being asked to reset it with a USB flash drive.
What should I do? Thank you for your help.

Hello,
I can't respond to you because the same thing happened to me when I bought the same computer as you. As soon as I opened the computer and Microsoft asked me to sign in, that infamous password never worked. Customer service made me reset it twice, so I lost everything (documents and photos, etc.)
I didn't want to go through Microsoft anymore, but since you always have to "download" applications, recently, I had to go through them. So, password rejected, and like you, they are asking me for a removable USB flash drive..
I'm looking on CCM, but I see that your questions remain unanswered, and it's frustrating.
I hope that, since then, you have been able to find a solution to "our" problems on other more efficient and responsive sites.
Best wishes to you in this IT mess.
