SD card reader issue Solved

Question

Hello, after reformatting a Sony Vaio VGN-Z11WN running Windows 7, the SD card reader is not working. In the device manager, under SD Host Controllers ==> yellow triangle and Secure Digital Host Controller compliant SDA. According to the computer, the driver is up to date but it doesn't work. I'm also having issues with video playback on the internet. Please help, this is not my field at all and I'm starting to lose patience and hope... Thank you!!!

Hello, "Running on Windows 7" implies that this system is not the original one; if so, what was it, please? Windows 7 32 or 64 bits? It’s possible that this driver might work, but there’s no guarantee. Hello glg29, thank you for your quick response. I didn't have time this weekend, but I'm getting to it now. I believe I remember that this Vaio was previously running XP and is now on Windows 7, 32-bit (service pack 1). I'm trying the driver now ;) Thank you!

Hello glg29, thank you again, and I believe the latest will arrive very soon. I was able to recover my old Asus after having a small power block resoldered... ;) But there are software and driver issues and all that stuff too :D The Vaio is fresh and ready to be passed on to Môman... ;)

Ahahaha, yeah, but she took care of my siblings and me our whole lives, so it's only natural that we return the favor... ;) Hey, quick question before I post this on the forum, right now I'm trying to "clean up" my Asus a bit. At startup, there's a program called Asus Fancy Start that keeps trying to install, but I don't want it to... do you have any idea how I could get rid of this thing?? There's also a document called Alex (I've never saved this thing...) that keeps asking me which program I want to open it with. Every time I cancel, but it gets annoying and it's not normal, especially. Finally, the wireless functionality gets disabled at every reboot, which isn't very normal either??? Sorry for all these questions... and thanks in advance if you can help me :)

Of course it's normal, and you only have one "Môman"! Asus FrancyStart is a program that allows you to change the startup logo of the PC, adjust the sound, modify the background of the logo window, optionally add a frame, etc........ Here it is in picture.  In my opinion, it should be configured like in the image so that it doesn't start up with the PC. Regarding "Alex", I don't really know what that is! As for the wireless feature, maybe try updating a driver! @+  -- The one who doesn't please when arriving always pleases when leaving! Breizh a tao

Yep, for fancy start I found out how to simply disable its launch at startup. The wireless feature isn't changing for now but yes, it must surely be a driver; if it comes back, I'll take another look. And the Alex program, I don't know either, it's something I've had for a long time and I just need to click cancel but well, I wanted to try to remove it. Nothing very important, the computer works properly. Thanks for your help and have a good day!! Alex
