Hello,
I want to install ttf fonts, but when I try to copy them into Windows/Fonts, I get an error message saying
"unable to install font machin, the file does not seem to be a valid font..."
What can I do?
Thanks in advance!

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 43.0.2357.132

Hello,

can you provide a link to one of the fonts that is causing you a problem?

The font file you download is a ".zip" (compressed) file. If you place it in the fonts folder, it is normal for you to receive this message.

You need to unzip it to find the font (".ttf" extension). Depending on your version of Windows, after downloading the file to your disk (not in the fonts folder!), double-click it and extract the font.
It is this ".ttf" file that you need to place in the folder, or more simply, you can right-click on the font and select "Install".

If you haven't done so already, I recommend showing file name extensions: in Windows Explorer, go to "Tools," "Folder Options," then the "View" tab, and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types."
In Windows 8, it's directly in the "View" tab, "File name extensions."

Thank you very much! It didn't exactly work out as you said (the direct copy wasn't possible), but it gave me hope to try new things. So here are the steps for Windows 8:
1) The compressed file is located in the downloads folder, double-click to open it.
2) The .ttf file cannot be copied or extracted directly into Windows/Fonts, so it needs to be copied or extracted into the same folder, that is, the downloads folder.
3) The .ttf file then appears in the downloads folder, and we can finally copy it into Windows/Fonts.
4) Once in Windows Fonts, double-click on the chosen font, open Word, and it works!
Once again, thank you for all the information!
