Hello,
My Garmin GPS 2495lm turns off after a few seconds despite a full battery or when plugged into the cigarette lighter (with the ignition on), and I recently updated the software!
I don’t use my GPS often, I protect it properly, and I don't expose it to the sun indefinitely.
It is almost new!

I considered this possibility. I will surely return it to customer service for them to check it.
Given that I haven't changed any settings and have recently updated the software, I am indeed leaning towards a hardware failure!

I experienced exactly the same phenomenon recently on my Tomtom Via 135 after renewing the European map and updating the firmware.
After a few uses (where I had to reboot it all the time), everything went back to normal.
