Hello, I can't connect my microphone (for singing) to my PC
it's a Philips microphone, I've plugged in the adapter and connected the mic to the computer, then activated the microphone in the control panel and checked that it is not muted, but no sound is coming out and the computer is not recording anything. Can you help me?
(in "voice" I think my computer doesn't recognize the mic)
thanks in advance

Hello.
Did you plug the microphone into a front socket or into the back panel of the PC? -
The PHILIPS SBC MD150/00 microphone you mentioned is asymmetrical just like the microphone input of the PC
But the level of -74 dB under 600 ohms is far too low
You need an audio card with high gain / low noise like Terratec with a professional microphone input
You can also choose a small external microphone preamp that you will connect to the line input (blue)
Many dynamic microphones have a preamp and a battery in the handle itself -
The advantage of good preamps is that they can be used for multiple sources (all microphones and instruments, sometimes even phono pickup cartridges)
These preamps are powered by mains or (even better) by rechargeable batteries
The microphone with integrated preamp assumes that one always remembers to check the battery before use and to turn it off when not speaking !! For a child ... -
Is it the internal sound chip (motherboard) or a real sound card like Terratec or another?
What is the output level and the impedance of your microphone?
Does it have an internal preamp (battery-powered)?
Do you have an audio amplifier nearby? -
Good evening,
I had the same problem some time ago, I returned the microphone to the store.
I still wish to be able to plug a microphone into the PC. Can you recommend a dynamic microphone with a preamp? I didn't find any microphones online specifying whether or not they have a "preamp"...
Another question: do you think it's better to have a dynamic microphone with a preamp or an amplifier + any microphone?
Note: This microphone will mainly be used by my 8-year-old daughter for karaoke.
Thank you. -

Thank you for your response!
I'm sorry, I forgot to mention:
https://www.woodbrass.com/AMPLI+GUITARE+ELECTRIQUE+EAGLETONE+AL-610G+-+10+WATTS
I also have a mic like the one described above by another member, it's a Philips mic that was gifted to me, could it work with it too? -
Good evening!
I would like to purchase the following microphone:
https://www.woodbrass.com/EAGLETONE+DM48+MICRO+DYNAMIQUE+CARDIOIDE+POUR+CHANT+ET+ANIMATION+-+RENTREE-MSO
Eagletone DM48 dynamic cardioid microphone for singing and animation.
"The DM48 is an economical model designed without frills but benefiting from a 2-year Eagletone warranty. It will meet your expectations if you are looking for a simple, reliable, and robust microphone with a clear and dynamic sound.
- Dynamic microphone
- Unidirectional type with cardioid directionality
- Frequency response 50 Hz - 20 kHz
- Sensitivity -53dB +/-3dB (0dB=1V/Pa at 1KHz)
- Output impedance 600 Ohms at 1 kHz
- Metal grille and body, XLR output (also known as cannon) Locking audio connectors, with inputs and outputs having three pins. Male 3 pins
- Supplied with unbreakable nylon clip
- Delivered in a carrying pouch with zipper"
However, it is not specified whether it is sold with or without a cable. I suppose that it will require the purchase of a cable, and in the recommended accessories, I have this:
http://www.woodbrass.co/CABLE+MICRO+EAGLETONE+XLR+MALE%20XLR+FEMELLE+-+10M+-+RENTREE-CS
"Neutrik type plug, 6mm sheath."
Does anyone know what this type of cable connects to? (Neutrik type plug)?
Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to inform me ;) -
I'm sorry, but I don't understand your response :(
Do you know if this can be connected to a regular guitar amplifier? -
A guitar amplifier is not like other amplifiers
Indeed, some of them have multiple inputs and often an XLR microphone input for vocals in addition to the asymmetric internal microphone of the guitar
Do you have the model reference? -
Thank you very much for your help! :) It's very kind of you to take the time to explain everything!
I found a much better deal while browsing the site, an all-in-one pack:
https://www.woodbrass.com/EAGLETONE+DM48+MICRO+DYNAMIQUE+CARDIOIDE+%2B+PIED+DE+MICRO+%2B+CABLE+XLR+5M
I believe the cable is similar to the one I wanted.
Let me rephrase your answer to make sure I understood everything:
For this cable, I need to buy an adapter to connect it to the amplifier, right? :) -
Hello everyone,
I have the same issue, I just bought a Philips microphone, "karaoke companion" 85-11 000 Hz -74 dB 600 Ohm.
I am on Vista, and I can't hear my voice on the speakers. This is bothering me because I want to do karaoke with friends very soon. Do you have any idea what the problem is? I’ve looked everywhere and I can't find a solution.
Thank you for replying as soon as possible
Best regards. -
Up! I have exactly the same problem.
I have a Philips microphone like this:
https://www.boulanger.com/evenement/webdistrib
Is it possible to output sound through the speakers of a PC? I connect it to the microphone input, and when I record the sound, it is recorded without a problem, but at a very low volume, and the sound does not come out through the speakers.
Thanks in advance to anyone who solves this mystery :-) -
Good evening :)
Thank you very much for your response, papy74600 :)
But I must admit that I understood almost none of these explanations :( Sorry :(
In concrete terms, are you advising me to buy an amplifier, is that it? -

Here ... above are the best performance/price ratios
Study the specifications well and good luck to the chip

The XLR connection has the advantage of allowing the use of a balanced input on preamps / consoles / mixers. It avoids ground loops and allows for phase inversion (in case of feedback)
But a sensitivity of -53 dB is rare on quality microphones! Strange -
The Eagletone AL-610g has a micro input on a 6.35mm jack
(mono I suppose since I couldn't find the detailed specifications - perhaps you scanned the pages in PDF?)
So you'll need an unbalanced/symmetrical adapter (female XLR / male 6.35 jack)
Not having the sensitivity (gain) value of this amp, I can't say if the Philips musical (-72 dB) will perform better than the current speech mic at -53 dB.-

Mimi the little mouse wants to eat candy but the microwave is too mean so it gave her a kiss on the arm, but Mimi the little mouse said no it's fine. Then she told me to try to plug in the microwave for her and since I'm not very good at plugging in her microwave, I told her not to eat cake otherwise she would get fat and become beautiful like Cinderella, but I love little shoes, corn, greens, and microwaves !!!!

P.S: I won't be using the Philips, my cousin says it's an amateur microphone for karaoke, I'll leave it to my little cousin lol :D
For the amp, I'll try to find out if the input is mono, as you said it's not very detailed...
