Order issues on GTA V PC
babaorume1 -
I've recently started playing GTA 5 on PC (laptop) but I'm having some issues with the game controls. Indeed, when I'm driving a vehicle or controlling my character (using the keyboard keys), the response (that is, the movement of the vehicle/character) has a certain delay. This means that my character keeps moving forward or my vehicle keeps turning/reversing... (doing so more or less for a while) even though I've already released the key for some time.
I've tried to figure out what might be causing this, I’ve searched the game settings; furthermore, it doesn’t seem to be a problem with the keyboard itself (I've never had this issue with GTA San Andreas, for example).
So I'm left without an answer... and it really frustrates me when I play, since I sometimes completely lose control!
Thank you for your help!

Good evening,
I see that this issue hasn't found its solution. It's a shame because I also have the same problem of lag with my PC. However, it has never had any issues, it's quite recent (February 2015) and powerful enough (Core i5, Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M), it runs all the Assassin's Creed and Tomb Raider games like a pro...
I've already uninstalled the game once to reinstall it (sacrilege...), and during my first few hours of play, I didn't have this problem. But tonight, I'm getting back to it, and it's back! If you have a solution, I thank you in advance for your help...-
Hello,
Call me GOD,
To solve this problem it's very simple and I've also struggled with this bug,
You just need to lower the two gauges to the minimum:
"Delay before repetitions" and "Frequency of repetitions" in the Keyboard window of your
control panel.

I hope this works for you, it works for me. -
Response in 2025: what ppw13013 says is true. In any case, after changing the keyboard options and setting everything to "short," it's working; I drove for 5 minutes, skid, opened the menu, exited the menu, etc... it no longer bugs. I thought it was because I had my phone between my keyboard/mouse and the sensor, and that my phone was using the same Wi-Fi source, but maybe not. Thanks ppw13013
UPDATE! After 20 minutes of driving, the bug returned, even disconnecting the phone and placing it far from the devices. Even with the keyboard setting trick. And the game in general is lagging. There are some delays. I'm going to see if I can regain a bit of gameplay speed, I don't know how, but I'm going to test it. It's just that apparently the keyboard bugs first, then there are frame freezes. (which doesn't make sense to me, but anyway, I'll check it out)
UPDATE 2: I've significantly reduced the graphics and played in both the city and the countryside. The bug is stronger in the city and still present despite lowering the settings. But what surprises me is that I'm experiencing this bug today, not long before the release of GTA 6, and not in 2024 and before. I will continue to search for a solution and will post it here if I find one.

Hello, maybe the configuration of your laptop isn't powerful enough? Can you give me the specifications of your laptop? Also, have you tried lowering the graphics and other settings that consume CPU and GPU resources (NPC density, etc.)?
