A5 booklet format: mixed page order during printing

Hello everyone,

Before I get reprimanded, I want to clarify that I've tried to find answers to my question on other topics, to no avail.
My document:
- I created a booklet in A5 (Page layout -> book layout; Paper size A4).

- On the pages of my document, I wrote normally, meaning one page after another: writing page 1 on page 1, writing page 2 on page 2. Each page contains about 200 words, confirming that we are indeed in an A5 format.

My problem when printing:
- When I print, I select manual duplex printing,
- But the order of the pages coming out is incomprehensible. For example, instead of having page 2 on the back of page 1 (cover), I end up with page 8.
Instead of getting an arrangement of pages in the interior of the booklet with even pages on the left, odd pages on the right, sometimes I get even on the left, sometimes odd on the left.

In short, I can't understand where my problem lies, and how this booklet format, which is reputed to be so simple to use, ends up giving me such a disordered result when printed.

If you have any suggestions, thank you for sharing them.

Best regards,
Laurent.

Hello,
Question: how many pages are there in total: do you have blank pages; does your "layout in preview" correspond to the printed output... I’m waiting for answers and may have a solution..

Hello Paul,

There are a total of 14 A5 pages. No page has been left blank. Therefore, I should only end up with a blank page to the left of the cover, as it is the last one of my booklet. However, another blank page appears to the right of my page 2 (which I remind you is already not in the right place).
"Does my layout correspond to the printed output?" I’m not sure I understand. The print preview shows a logical sequence of my pages by displaying the A4 sheet divided into 2 consecutive pages (1-2-3-4....). This preview does not show the pages in a printer output configuration (14-1; 2-13; etc.)

To be sure, can you "configure your printer" before printing, which should give you a preview equal to the output:
If you want a blank page on the back of the first page: you need to create it..
So in the end, you go from 14 to 16 with, 1 page cover facing 16 blank / 2 blank facing 15 / 3 text facing 14 text ....
P.S. a light just turned on "your pages are configured (page layout in A5)
or in A4) as this may be due to this page layout ...
If you can't find a solution, I can try to help you by email (pzleto@noos.fr), it will be easier.

Hello,

Have you tried selecting "Auto" instead of "All" in "Sheets per book"?

Are your pages declared as different odd/even in the layout?

To create a booklet, you cannot have 14 pages..
You need a multiple of 4 in your Word document.

On an "A4 sheet," you will have 4 A5 pages (2 on the front and 2 on the back); once folded in half, you will have your booklet...
I don't recall Word automatically adding the pages in the right place...
