Unable to enter PIN code as there is no keyboard on the screen

Hello,
After sending my iPhone 4S, which no longer held a charge after 18 months, to customer service, I retrieved my old iPhone 4. Orange informed me that I need to perform a task to unlink my iPhone 4S from iCloud on the computer. I did it, and disaster... My old iPhone 4 that I was using in the meantime was also unlinked because the SIM card was in it. Anyway, I restarted my iPhone 4 and encountered the setup screen: French, Wi-Fi code, ok.... and when it came time to enter the PIN, there was no keyboard to type it in and I'm stuck.
I plugged it into my computer, iTunes opens and recognizes the iPhone, but the computer says iPhone is locked because the PIN hasn't been entered. I know I can't enter it anymore; what should I do? On this iPhone, I had a backup on this computer but I can't do anything as long as the phone is locked. My iTunes on the computer has iOS 7 and this old phone doesn't have iOS 7. What should I do? In iTunes, I have a backup of my iPhone 4S that I sent back a week ago, but in the meantime, I no longer have a phone and no one can reach me, it's a disaster.
Thank you all for helping me.

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 36.0

Hi, try this, when the iPhone says the SIM card is locked, see if you can bypass the step (without entering the PIN code). If you manage to finish the setup and the iPhone reaches the menu with the icons, dial a phone number and initiate the call. The iPhone will inform you that the SIM is locked and will offer to unlock it. Don’t rush, the iPhone 4 may take a bit of time to display the unlock PIN option and show the keypad to enter the PIN code.

I have roughly the same problem, but I cannot skip the PIN code step, I am stuck.
The Apple Store told me they don't deal with these issues and directed me to Apple Care, which only handles your case in exchange for €29 (if I understood correctly).
That's a high price for a mistake (I deleted the location from my iCloud account, apparently it's irreversible, so it's considered lost and requires activation... ). I'm stuck, in every sense of the word!

So it was quite a problem. I called 0805540003, Apple technical support, and I spoke to someone super nice who stayed with me on the phone for 2 hours. My problem is solved. But I didn't recover everything, but my phone works and I have my contacts, my calendar, my notes, and some photos. Anyway, that's enough for me.
You need to press and hold the top button and the middle button, wait for the Apple logo, keep pressing until you see the display indicating to connect to the computer.
Connect the phone to the computer, iTunes starts... and the phone completely restarts.
But call support, they are very good.
Good luck!

I had exactly the same problem, unable to bring up the keyboard to enter the PIN code.. I used another phone with my SIM card and in the settings, I disabled the PIN code, after that the iPhone did not ask me to unlock the SIM again :)
