Boost my Wi-Fi reception

Hello
I have the Orange Inventel Livebox
Since I took the television package, I had to place my modem next to the television and equip my Toshiba Satellite 2450-114 laptop with a Netgear card to switch to Wi-Fi when I am less than 10 meters away, which works very well, but my office is more than 20 meters away and there, the connection is weak and often cuts out. I would like to know what I should get to boost my Wi-Fi reception. Thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

I have a Sagem Livebox that worked very well at first, but one day I noticed a weakening of the WiFi connection.
    1) I called customer service, which did 100 tests and concluded that there was no problem...
    2) I replaced my Livebox with an exchange from Orange, but it's the same.
    3) I replaced the USB dongle of my PC with a PCI card; it's a bit better in terms of reception sensitivity,

but it's the transmission that seems weak....

It's still a problem because depending on where the PC is in my apartment, I have no connection.

What's the channel? Is it the reception of the Wi-Fi?

Yes, there's a nice tutorial here on how to boost the Livebox signal, it requires some tweaking but is easily doable.

    Hello,

If your connection is still slow, you can always perform a procedure in the network connections.

    Start>Connections>Show all connections
Right-click on the wireless network connection and click on
Properties>Click on configure (which is next to your network card)>Advanced>Roaming Aggressiveness>Uncheck use default value, and set it to max.

Then, go to transmission power, uncheck use default value, and set it to max.

There you go, I hope I was able to help you.

      Good evening Crimosoft,
Could you provide me with details about your solution for Windows 7, as I can't find the default aggressiveness in the settings :/
      Thanks in advance

Try changing the channel of your Wi-Fi connection; it improved the signal for me.

    Hello,

Apparently, it's the loss of signal that occurs depending on the distance. From what I read, the TV is next to the modem, is it right next to it and between the TV and the mobile phone?

If so, you need to either move the modem to clear it, or if the antenna is external and removable, replace it with a semi-directional or more powerful antenna. One must not forget that the WIFI signal is simply radio communication.

I am experiencing the same problem and I think the solution is to buy a small antenna because Toshiba Satellites are old and at first I even wondered if it was my internet but no, so I have to buy a small wifi antenna.

use a free proxy... for example Yahoo or Free, it changes your IP before the connection so there shouldn't be any problems normally.

      Hi there,
I have a question to ask you: do the two computers use the same IP, and is that why you're having problems?

To change the IP address of a computer, you need to right-click on your network card (the one that connects to your router or other) > Status > Properties > General > double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > check "Use the following IP address" and define the IP you want to give to your computer. Don't forget to also define the subnet mask and the default gateway (set this to be the same as your router or other) and then click OK and OK.

PS: The IP you define on your computer must be almost the same as your router; otherwise, it won't work.
      Example:
      Your router: IP: 192.168.1.1
      Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
      Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Your computer: IP: 192.168.1.X (X represents the number you want to give it)
      Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
      Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

I have a CDMA modem, but I have a network (I think it's the same as Wi-Fi; I want to boost it) for a good reception. Help me please, and see you later!

      Hello,
I live in an old house with thick walls, and to get a signal on the other side of the house I was thinking of buying a "WiFi booster." But there are so many options and prices, do you have one you could recommend?
      Thank you

Go through a powerline network, your internet network runs through the electrical wiring of your home and at the spot where you want a good signal, you plug in an "antenna" into a regular electrical socket and that's it.
