Hello,
I have been looking for a long time for the lyrics to the song:
"the bread of your old parents"
The first verse starts with:
in his cradle the child awakens..............
A big THANK YOU to everyone who would like to help me.
Have a great day.

Hello!
And here it is :)
The old parents
I
In his cradle the child awakens
And his mother nearby
With a worried look watches over him
He slept poorly last night.
And every day like a chain
A long string of worries
The mother endures the pains
To raise her dear little one,
They have suffered a lot and you understand them
Also when you grow up.
Chorus
It is the bread of your old parents
That your heart full of tenderness
Will earn for their old age
In respect for their white hair.
This happiness you will give them
Because it is your supreme duty
Your children will do the same
For you will also grow old.
II
Finally, to become a man,
The poor parents every day
Exhaust themselves like true beasts of burden
Sacrificing their joys, their loves.
One day you leave apprenticeship
You now hold a trade in your hands
You can because you have courage
Become a good worker.
It's your future, your well-being
Yes, think of what you owe them
Chorus
III
For the love of a pretty girl
He one day leaves the poor old ones
He, in turn, starts a family
On earth when one is happy
But he knows all the sadness
And the pains of abandonment
That is how from tenderness
Comes his consolation
They have only you now
My child, never forget them,
Chorus

I was so doubtful that anyone would respond to me... it's exactly the words I was waiting for... I would like to find the CD for this song... I don't know if it exists???
A huge THANK YOU for these lyrics.... You can't imagine how happy I am.....
Best regards and thank you again
Glad to have been able to help you :)
I don't know if you'll find it on CD or elsewhere...I only know that these are lyrics by Maurice Ripot, dating from the 1930s, and they are generally sung to the accordion tune "Quand on s'aime bien tout les deux"...
