Dear members,

I am facing an unusual problem: when I export a file from InDesign to PDF via "Print Book" using either the Postscript printer or a virtual printer such as CUPS-PDF or VIP-RISER, the PDF files I had included in my InDesign document before export are corrupted: characters disappear.
The only solution is to vectorize each PDF file in Adobe Illustrator before including it in the InDesign document.

Is there a simpler solution?

Thank you in advance.

Verify that the PDF files you import have their fonts embedded (with Acrobat, go to "File/Properties: Fonts tab").

If this is not the case and substitute fonts are being used, try recreating the PDF by printing it again to PDF with the option to download the fonts. This way, substitute fonts will replace the missing fonts.
