insert a flat or sharp in a text Solved

Question

Hello, I would like to be able to insert the flat or sharp sign or the treble or bass clef into an explanatory text. I can't find the codes, or more precisely, I find the sharp and flat symbols in Lucida Sans, but I can't do what it says: e.g. U+266B. I downloaded the Lassus font, but when I type on the keys, I cannot create text, and changing the font for a character is tedious. Are there other possibilities? Hello,  To obtain the character from its code, you type 266B and then press the key combination ALT C The "B" can be either in lowercase or uppercase and the C with ALT as well.  The "U" simply indicates that it is "Unicode" encoding, a universal and extended character set compared to ANSI or ASCII encoding, and includes non-Latin characters (Japanese, Hebrew, Korean, Arabic, Cyrillic, etc.) and many symbols.  -- C-Claire

Hello. Have you tried the character map? All the programs/accessories/system tools/character map  There you can visualize the characters of each font, and "copy" the desired character to paste it into your word processor. Yes, I found it in the character table; by the way, there's no treble clef – but unless I'm not clever enough, I see that you need to copy the character, put it on hold at the top of the text, and copy it again when you need it, whereas often it's just enough to have the code to insert it directly anywhere. Let me explain, for example, if I want to make an É on the 2nd or 3rd page, I just do alt144 and I have it. No need to go back and copy that character placed on hold somewhere. That's what I'd like to find, to create a code to get the desired character directly. Is that possible? gretchen33

Thank you to C-claire, I also learned something. That said, after research, it only works in Word (which was the request here) and maybe not for all versions of Word.  For example, when typing on Google: "Entering Unicode characters using the Microsoft Office keyboard" the first result is: http://office.microsoft.com/fr-fr/word-help/saisie-de-caracteres-unicode-a-l-aide-du-clavier-HP003084929.aspx ==>>>"If you know the (hexadecimal) Unicode value of a character, you can directly insert that character into your document using the keyboard shortcut" ALT+X it is specified that this applies to Word 2003.  In Open Office, I couldn't find any keyboard shortcuts to do this, except to create your own keyboard shortcut or create a macro: https://forum.openoffice.org/fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16895  It is very well explained in this last article that the reason why, under Windows, in the character table, Unicode characters with a value greater than 0255 do not have shortcuts like: Press Alt+0220, is that the ASCII code is limited to 8 bits, thus max value = 255 (see the article in the link above for more details.)  Hoping that these details can help others.  One last thing: a little thank you to each contributor is always appreciated, even if "we didn’t give the right answer." Because each contributor takes their personal time to try to move things forward. Thank you for keeping that in mind... :-)
