Hello,
There is no antivirus for the PS4. The console does not use Windows, so it is unlikely that you will ever encounter malware.-
Hi
The console does not use Windows
PS3 neither, that hasn't stopped them from offering Trend Micro already.

Otherwise, we agree on the rest:
"it is unlikely that you will ever encounter malware"
In fact, in the end, PS3 or PS4 is the same thing, a WEB filter.
Blocking malicious sites, there’s no reason to unless you’re hanging out on sites that you shouldn't be going to in the first place.
According to the firm, players are increasingly targeted by hackers because they now use their console for entertainment beyond video games.
At best, for a parent to use it as parental control, okay, blocking violent or dangerous sites, otherwise there's no need to pay for that. -

This passage was not meant to be linked to the absence of antivirus, but to the reduced risks.
It's good if the PS3 has an antivirus. And perhaps the PS4 will have one. I am simply responding to the topic creator by confirming that as of November 15, there is none available on the PS4.
For purely informational purposes, the operating system of the PS4 is based on FreeBSD. -

I think there is a misunderstanding; the web filter is only used to block risky sites. It has nothing to do with an antivirus, and its scope is limited to the browser.
Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia:
Antivirus software is designed to identify, neutralize, and eliminate malware (of which viruses are just one category).

Malware can exploit security vulnerabilities, but it can also be software that modifies or deletes files, whether they are user documents stored on the infected computer or files necessary for the proper functioning of the computer (most often those of the operating system).
And Trend Micro is indeed the publisher of an antivirus, but it can very well offer something other than an antivirus... -
