Where does the faint sound coming from a vinyl turntable come from?

Hello,  All the vinyl players I know output the sound from the record very quietly, as if there were a mini built-in speaker. Without even sending the signal to the speakers, this sound seems to come from the turntable, like a background noise, which bothers me a bit; I don't see what purpose it serves other than adding a background noise!!  Thanks!!    Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 39.0.2171.71

the other one, acting all high and mighty.. without explaining anything. I have a master's degree in physics so go ahead and explain it to me in detail, I'm not stupid enough not to understand. Where does sound actually come from? And if it's noise then. I listen to my vinyl records 30 cm from my head and I can hear the signal, it's bothering me.

There's not just the diamond that vibrates, so why doesn't the rest? Do you have a reference? My cartridge is of the Moving Magnet type. The cover attenuates the noise, there's no resonance on my end.

Well spotted Char Snipeur, the noise is still there when unplugging the turntable, so it’s not an electrical effect.  Still, the magnets in the playback head are permanent and not electrical, right?   PS: turntables make noise due to the rapid rotation of the disc, and a computer has a fan, which doesn’t crackle when it's handling a lot of data.

Hi, here is the solution: You stick a 30 cm long paper cone to the back of the reading head; sticking it by the tip. This way, you can unplug the power from the amplifier, and you will save electricity. Isn't life beautiful?

I will try to express in my own words what I perceive. (I apologize in advance for not being part of the perfect and miraculous elite of physicists with a Master's degree... Sorry, condescension annoys me)  The vinyl has a microgroove strewn with bumps and especially with lateral micro-waves; the extremely tiny stylus passes over it. The first result is the natural amplification of this microgroove, a vibration wave that travels through the stylus (which is extremely sensitive) and travels up the arm. The slight noise we hear is simply the natural amplification of the cartridge, which can be improved thanks to the proliferation of this small vibration, but mainly due to the arm that retransmits the vibrations.
