Sono - sortie haut-parleur

Hello,

I have a small sound system, I have two powered speakers and a basic mixing table.

The table has double RCA outputs, and the speakers have XLR inputs.

I would like to know about the SPEAKER OUT output; can I use it as an audio input, meaning can I connect my table to the SPEAKER OUT instead of using XLR? Or is it exclusively reserved for connecting a speaker in series?

Here is the link to the connection of my speakers.

    Hello oulahup,

the SPEAKER OUT output, can I make it a sound input: no, you cannot make it an input since it's an output...

The connector of the speaker out looks like a speakon, not an xlr,
This jack is meant to connect a passive speaker that will be powered by your speaker's amplifier, to check: what is the model of your speaker?

      Hello SurfAdCom,

Here is the reference for my 2 powered speakers: Ibiza XTM-Series 12.

Furthermore, since I'm experiencing a crackling sound with my XLR cable... I wanted to know if connecting my speakers to my mixer via a 2*RCA/2*RCA line out would be better?

      Pierre.

For the speaker out, it is indeed a speakon output for passive speakers.

The sound crackling may come from the cable or a wrong setting/connection (gain too high, unsuitable output, ...). Is the XLR input selector set to LINE?

What is the model of your mixing console?

Otherwise, it's the same, XLR or RCA are equivalent (the XLR only has a ground wire added and is specifically valid for devices with a balanced connection).

Try using RCA, it might be better... or not.

Just when I connect it to the speaker, there’s no sound coming out; I have to switch it to Micro for there to be sound… maybe the crackling comes from that.

My mixer, which I just changed, is a Behringer/VMX200 USB.

The mic position is used to connect a microphone directly via XLR without going through a mixer. The microphone input level is much lower than the line level; if you connect the line output of another device to a mic input, the input saturates... your buzzing comes from there!

If you have nothing in line position, it means your line input is defective. So, rather than using the mic input of the speaker with the line output of the amplifier (you risk damaging the input...), use an RCA cable from the MAIN OUT/AMP output of the mixer to connect to the LINE IN of the speaker...

      Thank you very much SurfAdCom,

I will try all this, and if you don't hear from me again, it means your tips work for me.

      Best regards, Pierre.
