Hello everyone!
So, I took apart my daughter's DS all by myself like a big girl (I had already changed the shell of another DS without any issues) because her A button wasn't working well. Problem solved, the gold part behind the button was dirty. But BIG problem, after putting it back together, the top screen is not bright at all!! It works, you can see the action on the screen (tested with Mario Kart) but zero brightness; the other screen works perfectly. I've of course taken it apart again, set the brightness to max, with no effect...
I'm really frustrated, I'll take it apart again tomorrow, but in the meantime, if you have any ideas, I'm all ears!!
(Is it possible that the connector for the flat cable is slightly unclipped? Would the screen work "partially" in that case?)
Thanks if you have any ideas! (the A button is working very well again though ;) )

The most likely scenario is that you unplugged the backlight power but not the pixel power. Try again and let me know how it goes.

According to my research online, it seems to be a symptom of a faulty upper screen, which is beyond my expertise, so she went to a qualified repair shop!! lol (and after visiting cash converters and the like, I realized it wasn't worth investing too much in repairs, given the price of second-hand consoles with guarantees!)
