Dismantle cathode ray tube monitor

Hello

I would like to dismantle a TV because I'm curious to see the inside and also to recover the copper (no waste).

But the problem is that I've read in several articles online that the cathode ray tube could implode, and I would like to know how it implodes to avoid any catastrophe!

And I also wonder, is it dangerous to discharge the cathode ray tube? The TV I recovered has not been turned on for a while (about 1 month). Is it still charged?

    Hello,

indeed, there may be a residual current charge in the capacitors of the printed circuit connected to the base of the tube.

While it is easy to remove this circuit (by holding it by the edges and pulling towards you), avoid touching the soldering points to prevent a severe shock!

Know that when the TV is plugged in, it is high voltage...

To prevent implosion (rare, it should be said), the recyclers break the base at the back with a hammer from above.

Of course, if you are considering this solution, I cannot recommend enough that you wear gloves and a pair of glasses!

However, if you remain cautious, there’s no reason to break it!

Also avoid loose clothing that could get caught in the "spikes" of the circuit engagement at the back of the tube.

    And WATCH OUT for children!

    Best regards.

      Thank you for the advice

Is there a risk when breaking the bulb of the tube?

No, it's not a big deal. I had written 3 messages (the same one three times since it doesn't appear here). No interest since you have the main point!
