Issue when trying to change the size of all text blocks at the same time

Hello,

I would like to change the size of my text blocks (book), stretching them in height, but I don’t know how to apply the changes to all the blocks and not just the selected one. Since the document is about a hundred pages long, doing it manually would be too cumbersome.

    Hello,

    You need to go to your template, then menu Page--->Margins and Columns.
    You change your margins and/or your columns in height and check "Enable layout adjustment."

    But of course, this will only work if you haven't released the elements of the template in your layout; otherwise, your changes won't be taken into account.

    Hello Louise,

    I checked, only the command "Release all items from the template" is active so they are not released.

    If the blocks are not released, they appear as dotted lines (left page).
    To release a template element: CMD+SHIFT+Click on the block to release (right page).

    When you create a new document, as in your case for a book, you need to check "Facing Pages" and "Primary Text Frame."
    Checking the "Primary Text Frame" allows pages to be generated automatically.
    You choose your margins (which you can change later by positioning yourself on the template and repeating the manipulations I mentioned earlier).

    So, when you import your text, you position yourself on your first template page (and not on your template) and you import your text.
    InDesign will generate the exact number of pages according to the extent of your text.

    The only elements that appear on your template are recurring elements, like the folio, the book title on the right page, etc. That's all.

    As for the title on the right, which should change according to the chapter, you need to create a variable.
    By doing this, you only need two templates: A for the current pages of the book, B for the chapter openings.

    I successfully modified the document margins, and I checked the layout adjustment box, but the text block didn’t move. I verified that only the "Release all template elements" command is active, so they are not released. I don’t quite understand how the template works and how it’s linked to the elements on the page. For example, if I create a new document and make a template with a text block, how do I import text into it (from the template or from the page)?
