Bonjour à tous,
Je viens vers vous car je ne sais plus quel système d'exploitation installer sur mon vieux PC ACER. J'ai tenté de mettre Windows 7 x64 mais il rame comme c'est pas permis, pourriez vous me conseiller; Linux ou Windows pourvu que mon ordi ne soit pas trop lent! Merci pour vos réponses.

pour ton petit processeur, avec 512 de ram (dimm 2, je ne vois rien dessus ) tu ne peux que rester sur une version de Xp ou Windows 7 starter (32 bit)!
le 64 bit ne fonctionnera pas sur ton pc car la fréquence de ton processeur n'est pas si élevée que ça et que tu dois disposer de plus de 4 Go de ram !

tu peux installer windows xp x32 et faire cette manipulation qui te permettra d'encore recevoir les mises a jour.
Lance le bloc note et colles-y le texte suivant :
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]
"Installed"=dword:00000001
Sauvegarde le document en format texte, renomme le .txt en .reg et double cliques dessus pour patcher la base de registre (pense à faire une sauvegarde de la base de registre avant).
Ton Windows XP 32 bits sera reconnu comme une version Embedded Industry par Windows Update.Grâce à cette astuce, tu profiteras des nouvelles mises à jour de Microsoft !

et tu na que 512 mo
il te faudrait aux moins 2go voir 3go(3000mo)

pour Vista ça m'étonne vu qu'il est plus gourmand en ressources que Windows 7
Pour l'extension mémoire il me faudrait la référence exacte et complète de ton PC ACER, ça m'aidera dans ma recherche
mais sur le principe, il suffirait de rajouter une ou plusieurs barrettes mémoire
d'après le peu d'infos que tu nous a communiqué, j'ai trouvé ceci : https://www.kingston.com/france/fr/memory/search?DeviceType=2&Mfr=ACE&Line=Aspire&Model=33990
Ton PC peut supporter jusque 4 Go (4 x 1Go) de mémoire maxi desquels il faut déduire la taille mémoire de la carte graphique, donc en principe 3,25 Go c'est un maximum. Limite toi à 2 GB c'est bien suffisant pour ce type de machine
sur le site de Kingston, je vois ceci :
" AMD Sempron processors support DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 memory only. DDR2-800 modules are not supported with this processor. "
ce qui signifie en français : " Les processeurs AMD Sempron supportent seulement les mémoires DDR2-533 et DDR2 667. Les modules DDR2-800 ne sont pas supportés avec ce processeur "
Or, ton processeur est un AMD Athlon 3400+ (1800 MHz) core Manila, socket AM2 (940). Il te faut donc trouver des barrettes DDR2 PC2-5300 ou PC2-4200
La carte mère est une ACER EM61SM/EM61PM. Tu peux en théorie monter des Athlon 64 (AM2) et Athlon 64 x2 (AM2)
évidemment, comme d'hab avec le groupe ACER, pas moyen d'avoir des infos, il faut les pécher à droite et gauche... grrrr.....
Pour les barrettes mémoire, voir >> ICI <<. Il t'en couteras environ 50€ pour 2 Go
Pour l'extension mémoire il me faudrait la référence exacte et complète de ton PC ACER, ça m'aidera dans ma recherche
mais sur le principe, il suffirait de rajouter une ou plusieurs barrettes mémoire

Ton PC peut supporter jusque 4 Go (4 x 1Go) de mémoire maxi desquels il faut déduire la taille mémoire de la carte graphique, donc en principe 3,25 Go c'est un maximum. Limite toi à 2 GB c'est bien suffisant pour ce type de machine
sur le site de Kingston, je vois ceci :
" AMD Sempron processors support DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 memory only. DDR2-800 modules are not supported with this processor. "
ce qui signifie en français : " Les processeurs AMD Sempron supportent seulement les mémoires DDR2-533 et DDR2 667. Les modules DDR2-800 ne sont pas supportés avec ce processeur "
Or, ton processeur est un AMD Athlon 3400+ (1800 MHz) core Manila, socket AM2 (940). Il te faut donc trouver des barrettes DDR2 PC2-5300 ou PC2-4200
La carte mère est une ACER EM61SM/EM61PM. Tu peux en théorie monter des Athlon 64 (AM2) et Athlon 64 x2 (AM2)
évidemment, comme d'hab avec le groupe ACER, pas moyen d'avoir des infos, il faut les pécher à droite et gauche... grrrr.....

Pour ce qui est de ton processeur c'est sûr que c'est pas le "klondike" mais par contre cela peut rester potable (Bureautique, internet mais rien d'autre) si bien configuré. Je l'ai déjà fait avec 3 Gigs de ram.
Mais par contre 512 Mo de ram Oh que non! Pour XP c'est un minimum "syndical" pour windows 7 ce n'est carrément pas assez! Va falloir que tu augmente au minimum à 2 Gigs . Pour ce qui de la version Starter "beurk" tu étais mieux d'installer XP et celui n'est plus supporté par microsoft et de plus en plus délaissé pour ce qui est des pilotes récents. Pour ce qui est de l'astuce de remettre les mises à jour XP oui c'est bon mais par contre c'est pour Windows XP Embedded qui équipe beaucoup de guichet automatique et ce support fini en 2016 mais est ce que ces mises a jour vont t'ils fonctionné correctement, allez savoir! Et je ne serais pas surpris que microsoft laisse faire cela longtemps.

je ne suis pas tout à fait d'accord... le minimum syndical pour XP est de 128 Mo mais comme pour tous les Windows il est clair que plus il y a de RAM moins on galère

Oui à ses débuts XP avec 256 Mo de ram (Beaucoup à l'époque et surtout au prix de la mémoire en 2001 ) mais au fil des SP 1-2- surtout ceux la ont carrément alourdi le système, maintenant ou plutôt avec 1 gig de mémoire tu pouvais agir avec une certaine aise,
