Is there a risk when removing my hard drive?

Hello,   I want to give away my laptop but I wanted to remove all the data. I have removed the hard drive. I will destroy the hard drive because I have taken what I needed.  Will there be any information left on the computer? Do I need to format anything?  Thank you for your valuable help.

Hi, There won't be anything left on the computer since you've removed the hard drive. But why destroy the hard drive? It just needs to be formatted.

If you've removed the hard drive, that's fine, there's nothing left. But instead of removing and destroying it, you can perform a deep wipe, but it's very lengthy. Disk management software allows you to erase everything and rewrite it as many times as requested on each sector of the disk. Basically, the software will erase the entire disk 10 times in a row so that there's no chance of recovering data even with recovery software.  The screwdriver method is much quicker... You can also buy an external enclosure to keep your drive and use it as an external hard drive.
