Hello,
I received a new HP Pavilion 17-E150nf laptop running Windows 8.1 64-bit with a 750GB hard drive 2 days ago.
Before partitioning the C drive, I started a disk defragmentation (since it's recommended), but at phase 5, it stays at 0% consolidated without any progress. I didn’t leave it for more than half an hour at this stage and I stopped it. I attempted it a second time and the same thing happened.
Is this normal or is it a problem? What should I do? I found this information:
https://support.microsoft.com/fr-fr/help/218160
What do you advise?
Thank you in advance.

I defragmented with Defragmenter.
It finished well and it says: Disk health: Good
Everything seems fine. What do you think?
I think I can partition it under good conditions using Windows Disk Management. I'm waiting for your opinion before I start. -
try defragmenting using this utility:

Thank you for your reply.
I have installed Defraggler.
Should I first choose "Analyze" or "Defragment, Quick Defragment" or "Defragment, Defragment" from the menu at the bottom left? -
It's done, and it worked well.
Thank you for everything.
