Hello I made a video montage with Movie Maker and I want to burn it onto a DVD-R. I use the Burn to DVD function, but when I try to play the DVD on a DVD player it won't read, and when I put it back on my PC I can only read it with Movie Maker. Could you help me? :)

    Hello,

What is your operating system (XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or others) or do you know which version of MovieMaker you are using?
Depending on your answer, I might tell you how to bypass the issue, if there really is a problem with MovieMaker.

To convert to an AVI file, you first need to obtain a video file with MovieMaker (WMV or MP4) that you can then convert with a suitable software such as Format Factory or XMedia Recode to mention just these two.

    Best regards

Then, with MovieMaker 2012 you first click at the top right on Save movie.

Then you search for the Windows DVD Creation application (DVDMaker), which should normally open directly in MovieMaker with "For DVD burning".
That’s the decomposed method, which you seem to do in one go and which should have worked in theory.

And if it still doesn’t work, try another authoring software such as DVDStyler or DVD Flick for example, which will generate a structure or an ISO image of your DVD-Video project, which you will then burn with the software of your choice.
Freemake DVD Converter can do it too.

If you want to obtain an AVI file, you will also need to first create your video file in MovieMaker in MP4 or WMV, which you can then convert.

I suggest using, if you can, writable DVD-RWs for burning, so as not to waste DVDs for nothing.

No, you should use, for example, software like Format Factory or XMedia Recode or another similar one.
With Format Factory, choose the XviD or DivX codec in Output Settings -> Video Encoding, depending on the “formats” your player can read.

Be mindful of the resolution or image dimensions (Size in Format Factory), because if the home DVD player is connected by SCART, it cannot exceed 720x576 at maximum, so for example set 640x480 for 4:3 or 640x360 for 16:9.
