how to empty a full SIM card?

Hello,

I recently got an Alcatel One Touch Pop C1 and I’m getting a message that the SIM card is full.
What does it contain? Does it contain files like photos? ...
I’m wondering what could have filled it up, and since I'm being notified, it must mean that I need to take action!

How can I clear it, or at least make some space?

this needs to be verified, but it seems to me that SIM cards have a memory capacity of 128 bytes or 256, I can’t remember.

They can only store contact details.

It would be necessary to transfer some of these contacts to the phone.

Thank you for your quick responses!
As for my contacts, I had a total of 83, including 26 on the SIM card. (not many!)
I transferred them to the phone and then deleted them from the SIM card...
So there are no more contacts on the card, which is still indicated as being full!! Theoretically, as soon as I deleted just one contact, it shouldn't have been full anymore, right?
So it was fuller than full! :-)
I don’t understand anything anymore!

I waited to reply because I wanted to see what was going on.
My card still appears to be full, I'm noticing unwanted changes: ringtone change, need to re-enter the wifi code for my box...
So, probably a card issue.
Question: if I change the card, will I be able to keep my number? ... thank you!
