Hello,

AFPA offers me a two-month pre-qualification before accessing the training for electric equipment technician.
For people who have already completed this pre-qualification, could you tell me how this pre-qualification works and what it covers?

Regarding the electric equipment technician training, I would like more information about AFPA supervision, whether I can be operational after this training and find work during this crisis period.

It's like a preparatory class, to ensure you have all the basic knowledge and notions necessary to enter the training; there will be everything: math, physics, French, tech, drawing, hygiene-safety, etc.

"I would like to have more information about the AFPA supervision" these are certified specialists, graduates, with several years of experience in industry, recruited by competitive exams and professional trial.

"am I going to be operational after this training" this is the raison d'être of AFPA trainings, as opposed to studies at the National Education where immediate operability is not the primary goal.

"finding a job during this crisis period" no one can guarantee that, whatever the type of training followed, including apprenticeship contracts and other work-based trainings; finding a job depends on multiple factors, including your appearance, your personal qualities (politeness, punctuality, will, respect, ambition...), your motivation, your place of residence, your availability to travel (family situation, driving license, passport, foreign languages), your determination to search for a job by all means, and also luck, it must be said...

"starting a 1-year training with very few resources" you do not need resources, since you will receive a training allowance during your training and you will be insured socially (without having to pay contributions); moreover there is an internship in most AFPA centers!

Yes, unfortunately, some people devalue Afpa training, which is why I’m trying to inform myself as much as possible so as not to waste time.

Yes, obviously, to work you need to have a few qualities, which luckily I don’t have any trouble with. But is the job of an electrical equipment technician a profession that recruits?
And what modules are there for this training? I’d like to prepare myself in advance to succeed well.

I have absolutely no idea which jobs hire or not, in France, in 2014-2015!
It’s the prequalification internship that will prepare you for the diploma training internship.
There isn’t much to prepare to succeed in the prequalification, except to review your maths and physics; also review any sketches, electrical diagrams and industrial drawing boards ...

And, purely as an indicative note, here is what a experimental preparatory internship envisaged eight years ago; it will give you a rough idea:

a. Knowledge: mathematics, physics, electricity, electronics, French,
technical English or basic English.
b. Know-how: computer science, PC configuration, Windows 9x installation,
PC component integration, telecommunications tools (web browsers
and Internet mail), Class Point software, creation of Internet configuration,
use of the basic electronic laboratory and getting started with the laboratory management software.
c. Soft skills: information retrieval, ability to articulate, ability to
work alone, autonomous decision-making, time management.

Hello,

I am 55 years old and I volunteered to take the admission tests to follow at AFPA the electrician of equipment training. For my part, it went well; I reviewed maths, shapes, fractions, percentages, etc.—nothing too difficult, considering I left school 40 years ago. If you’re motivated, you can make it; it’s in the head that it happens. I have a favorable opinion and I start beginning February.

    Instead of hijacking an old discussion (created in 2014 and finished in 2017), you should have started a new discussion.
    
    However, I tell you that you have all the explanations about the different trades (and AFPA training) for technician in the electricity field by consulting these sites on the Internet.
    The building electrician, for his part, only deals with electrical work inside residential buildings.
    
    I also point out that "the professional title training in electricity" does not exist, for the good reason that the professional title is what you obtain at the end of the training if you pass the exam.
    The "professional title" is, for the Ministry of Labour, the same thing as the "diploma", for the Ministry of National Education.
    
    Last useful clarifications: The various electricity trainings are more or less difficult, from level 3 (CAP worker) up to level 6 (Bac+3, senior technician).
    When you go to consult Pôle Emploi, you will obtain additional explanations, particularly about the towns where these trainings take place, and the waiting time to enter a internship; but also about the required educational level to access such or such training.
    However, if you do not trust AFPA, train elsewhere, because motivation and full involvement are essential for a trainee to face this type of training with a reasonable chance of success.
