Hello everyone,
I'm completely stuck: I reinitialized my desktop computer which had serious issues. Now, it is functional but without several drivers, including the ethernet controller driver that would allow me to update everything by connecting. When I install "pretend" drivers on a USB stick and try to install them, I get an error message regarding win32 and the inability to install ".exe is not a valid Win32 application."
How can I install the drivers and update my computer? It is on Windows XP.
Thank you in advance!

BIG PROBLEMS...
in the properties of the device (ethernet) you should find a reference (pci\ven_XXXXXXXXX) under the details tab, note it down and search for the driver then put this driver on a USB stick to install it on your XP PC
as soon as the ethernet card is activated you can find the other drivers on www.touslesdrivers.com -
Hello,
the Ethernet controller one
It’s surprising because by default, a generic driver for the Ethernet controller is installed when Windows is set up.
Go to the Device Manager, disable your LAN network card, and then uninstall it.
Restart your PC without connecting to the internet, then go back to the Device Manager.
Go back to the root at the top (where your PC's name is displayed) and click on action => scan for hardware changes.
It should find the generic driver and reinstall it properly as you will see in the Device Manager.
Reconnect to the internet, and logically you should be able to browse the web.....-

You should check if your controller is enabled in your BIOS.
Generally, you need to press the F2 or F12 key when starting your computer (it's displayed at the bottom of your screen during startup), then look for the tab that manages the motherboard components, and if you find something called Ethernet or LAN, check if it is enabled or disabled, and of course, choose enabled and then exit by confirming with F10.
Upon reboot, your LAN controller should be recognized by Windows (normally).

I list what I have regarding peripheral drivers and what I'm missing:
-SM bus controller
-Ethernet controller
-Video controller (VGA compatible)
-Multimedia video controller
-PCI Device
Every time I try to update, it tells me that I'm missing an installation source (CD or other). I have no CDs, I'm 100% sure I've never had any. -
I managed to find the driver on a website and install it directly, I've got internet! Now I just need to update all the drivers.
