Hello,
For a month now I've been constantly getting this f***ing message that's driving me crazy!
Moreover, the phone number they provided is no longer in service.
So here I am in trouble! Since I can't verify the info by phone, I'm
doing it through another Hotmail address, but I can't change my phone number or password anymore; it's hell, this crap!
How can I recover my account?
And why does this one have issues and not my other account?
It's really nonsense!
Can someone help me?

Configuration: Windows 8 / Firefox 29.0

    Hello,

To access your account, you can follow this procedure:

On the page "Call it overzealous", click on the arrow (after the question "Where can we send you...") to select the option "I don't have them anymore" or "I can't verify my account", then click Next.

You will arrive at the page "You can continue to use your account normally". At the top right of the page, you will see your name and your avatar. Click on it, and select "Account settings".

Once on the new page, click again on your avatar at the top right, and select "Edit profile".

On this new page, click on the "Profile" arrow at the top left, and choose "Outlook".

There you go, hoping this helps some people ;)

I followed your instructions, and I recommend them to anyone who has had the same problem.
Thanks to that, I found my email inbox again.
      Thank you so much!!!!!

Thank you, but do we have to do this every time we want to access our account?

      Hello Audrey
      and that’s a good question!
because I often have to do it too, but there’s an option to check
that says "I often log on to this PC, etc."
Normally, you check it and you should be good (well, I hope so)
Because their nonsense knows no bounds! You have to see how far they’re willing to go
in the name of so-called security...
I've been using this account for 11 years and no one has ever hacked it...
      Have a good day

    Hello Xileh
Yes, the link works but having clicked on 'send me a code'
I'm stuck for a month without being able to change
    the security info!
They replied telling me that I don't have to click
on the link but too late so I still have to wait until
    August 10. Ugh
this is getting boring! Already, they changed to Outlook without asking for our
opinion when it was working well with Hotmail
Anyway, they do what they want and in my opinion just to annoy people rather than improving things that need to be, especially when you read an email and the page refreshes by itself and goes back to the inbox and returns to the message
    Just stuff like that...

      Hi

I rarely advise to "look elsewhere" when a software or service isn't working... the priority being to solve the "problem"...

But well, when it comes to messaging, the options are plentiful... So I wouldn't advise you to "get rid of" Outlook.com, but this inconvenience might also encourage you to try out other services....

      See you later

Yes, Vista doesn't have as many problems as XP
but you need to disable quite a few unnecessary services
because it requires a lot of memory and processor resources
Finally, for the mailbox, besides the ads, I don't see what they gain from it
All I see is that the more it goes, the worse it gets!
Instead of everything working better, it's getting less and less good
They would do better to copy the way Google does it, which also makes
    profits while everything is free...
No, what I don't like is their way of imposing everything and with their monopoly, people have no other choice
I also used Hotmail from the beginning and it worked well
it's since they switched to Outlook that things have gone downhill

Hello! The link doesn't seem to be valid anymore, but it would really help me! In addition to not being able to access my account, my problem is that the only email address they offer me to recover a code is one of my contacts', an address that I haven't been able to communicate at any time since I don't know it by heart.

I was able to access the link and the form, and I submitted my request "how to activate my account"
but I struggled with entering their letters and numbers at the end of the form
apparently my request went through, but will I receive a response?

and I just received an email saying that they have received my request
      I hope I will get a response
since they've switched to Outlook it's a bit of a mess, to be polite

The solution is simple and you only need concentration
      For this message to disappear
you click on "I can't verify my account" then you go to a new page, click on "a phone number" and you will surely see two boxes: "a phone number" and "an email address" you click on email address and enter your second Gmail or Yahoo address, as you prefer, and there you go, your problem is solved.

    Hello Xi
No, anyway, we can't "fire" him
The first time they did it, I can't remember exactly when, 2010
or around that date, we could go back to Hotmail, but since
their new version, there's not even the option to "go back to Hotmail"
So we should still be able to choose
That's what I hate about Microsoft, they do whatever they want without asking for feedback from the customers they rely on
It's like their Windobe, look at what they did. There was Windows NT that worked well, they made XP the worst! then Vista (or Merda if you prefer) Then they finally made Windows 7, which was good, only to change to 8
You see the trick? once good, once bad...
So people get so fed up that they opt for the new version
It's just business aimed at making customers pay, that's all
because besides, their crap is expensive!
While there's Linux, free, but the downside is that software is mainly designed for Windobe
I'll let you be the judge

      Hi,

Personally, I used Hotmail at the very beginning of my personal "usage" of computers... I quickly switched to other email services...

As for the rest... I have been using XP since 2007, Vista since ~2010 without any particular problems with either...

I haven't made a decision for the future... whether to wait for "9" (or whatever name they will give it...) or switch to Linux... I'll see...

Finally, even though my intention is not to "defend" Microsoft... It is (like the others) a commercial enterprise... which (unfortunately) is not there to "please" but rather to make profits.......

    Hello Damien
And thank you for your reply
I did what you said but when clicking on "Account Settings"
I keep getting a blank page and nothing else
(With Firefox) and with Google Chrome it works
I modified the profile and I was able to "Add another phone number"
In any case, thank you for your help
I don't understand why we can't change the security information in the Outlook Options
but we can in the profile! Well, we can enter it
but when they ask where to send the code, it doesn't appear in the list
    Another stupidity from Microsoft?!
Anyway, I still have until August 10 to use it before they ask me for another code...
I'm going to do like Xileh (move on)
The most annoying thing is that I have to contact all the organizations, sites, forums, and friends I changed (in over 10 years it's going to be a piece of cake!

    Good evening everyone
    It's back
I followed DamienJ's method, but at the last phase, a message appeared
"connection impossible, your browser might be refusing cookies, etc., etc....
So I opened Safari and went to Outlook, followed DamienJ's procedure and there
    miracle, my email opened
Thanks again and see you all later---Philippe

    Hello Phill
Yes, but right now you have a browser problem
Not a Hotmail Outlook account issue
You need to check your Firefox browser
In Tools, then Options, then in the "Privacy" tab
And in my opinion, in the middle where you have written History
It should be set to "Use custom settings for history"
And there you check if the "accept cookies" box is checked
And in principle, you should be able to log in with Firefox

    To change the password
it's always the same message that appears
    "Help us protect your account"
but without being able to change it...
    Microsoft has really become crap!
And as Kata7 says, it just goes in circles
    Honestly, I've had enough!
