Hello,
My Canon MG5250 printer is showing an error code 5B00.
I can't do anything anymore.
I've read online that this message corresponds to an ink absorber issue and that I need to reset the counter to zero.
How can I do that?
Thank you for your help.

    Hello everyone,
To close the debates on the topics and also to thank all the participants in this forum and others, those who participated in this question, and in all the other discussions where this error is mentioned, here are my conclusions, after an additional thank you:
First, an additional thank you to the author of a comment specifying that a print head is a complex and closely monitored component, particularly regarding the temperatures of each ink ejection point; what I understood is that excessive temperature at one point, due to clogging by ink, is enough to block the head: it is not damaged, it is simply dirty.

1- There is therefore no evidence of planned obsolescence in this case (for once! And unlike the full ink recovery tank).

2- The head must therefore be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol (possibly available at pharmacies, or sometimes sold with cartridge refill inks), taking the necessary time; as for me, and the incident occurred at a good time, I let the head soak in a closed container, in 5 to 7 mm of alcohol, nozzles down; The heads of the IP4850 being placed above the head, I also filled the cartridge seating area with alcohol so that the head fills with alcohol as well. The head remained like this for about two weeks...

3- When I returned from vacation, i.e., on Monday evening, I rinsed the head again with alcohol, if only to compensate for evaporation (despite the closed container), and at noon, after further rinsing, until the rinsing alcohol was approximately clear (at least gray not dark black like at the beginning), I left it without alcohol, but in the closed container, to dry, a little but not too much, without rinsing it with water, it is useless.

4- Fateful moment, I reinstalled the head this evening, installed full cartridges, reconnected the printer, then pressed the power button...
Moment of joy (yes, yes...!) No defect
I printed a test page, not too bad, then the check pattern, followed by a head cleaning.
    Everything works perfectly.

5- Moral: Even if 5 or 6 years have passed before this incident, I will clean this head once a year, taking advantage of the holidays.

6- Regarding the software "servicetools": I couldn't use it this time, because as soon as the error 5B00 was indicated, the printer stopped communicating with the PC... And in the case of this error, the head is clogged, so it is essential to clean it.
The "servicetools" software helped me reset the programmed error "Ink tank almost full"... Even if it can be found almost anywhere now, I can pass it on to anyone who asks me, without knowing if it is possible (at least I haven't found out how) to attach a file to this comment....
Best regards and good luck. Your printer still has many years ahead of it!
