My headphones produce a "muffled sound".

Hello,

I'm contacting you today because I set up my headset-microphone Perixx AX-2000 yesterday (which was working perfectly well) and when I returned to my PC this morning, I noticed that it has major issues.

Indeed, the sound is much weaker than usual, and the quality is absolutely terrible. Instead of being powerful and clear, it sounds very weak, and I feel like I’m hearing my interlocutors through a "bowl".

This is really frustrating, and it’s not my sound card, because when I plug in the speakers, the sound is perfectly clear again.

I quickly checked the settings, the volume, the drivers... nothing worked.

Does anyone have any ideas? It seems strange to me that the headset stopped working overnight without any use of it at the time of the problem, which affects both earpieces, by the way.

Thank you in advance for your responses,
Dadkill

Well, I punched the right earbud, then the left earbud... and it works perfectly now.

Probably the membrane had come loose or something, because I thought I heard a little noise...

Anyway, both earbuds at the same time is weird. Especially since it didn't fall, I didn't sit on it or anything...

Thanks anyway for your reply JSmithJ :) !

Sometimes the problem comes from the slightly mis-molded headset plug... If I were you, I would plug it in and try to twist the plug...
Otherwise, it may be due to your sound card software. With Realtek, for example, if I select the wrong output category, the sound quality becomes bad.

    Hello,

I've tried twisting the cable at both the PC and the headset ends: nothing works. I've already tried unplugging and plugging it back in on both sides, with no success.

I've also checked my sound card software, which is not the issue since I haven't changed any settings since last night, there hasn't been any Windows update, and the speakers are still providing correct sound.

You need to remove the packaging from the earbuds.

Qi164: Uh... thanks a lot, but I'm not that stupid after all :D! I've had my headset since December and it's the first time it's done something like this.

;) I'm teasing; it sometimes lightens the mood in the face of the problem.
