Hello,
On one hand, you need to ensure that the checkbox is not a bullet point. To insert a real checkbox, go to the Developer tab > Controls tab. Also, it depends on the purpose you want to achieve, is it a form, a demo? Once you've added the field, you need to right-click on the checkbox, select Properties, and in Default Values, you have the option to disable or enable the box. If it's for a form that others will have to fill out, the procedure is different!
