Gateway keyboard

Hello!

I bought a Gateway laptop in 2012 (NV series)
there are usage options on the F keys (for example, to turn Wi-Fi on or off, adjust brightness, increase and decrease volume) I have to press FN to activate the F keys in the background. I reformatted my computer and unfortunately, the keyboard setup did not revert to the one I knew, and now I can't use the options...
How can I reactivate them? I have tried several keyboard configurations but still have the same problem... when I press the F keys without FN, there is simply no reaction, I still have to press FN to use the F keys normally.

Thank you.

I installed Windows 7 Pro in English, it's not the same version I had, I had some difficulty with the recovery so I changed completely, before I had Windows 7 Home Premium in French.

What I mean by formatting is completely reinstalling a new Windows.

    Thank you!!

    Hello Geneviève,

the first thing that would help me assist you is to know your operating system version. I assume it's Windows, but which version?

Then you mention you've reformatted your computer. What exactly do you mean?

Did you reset it from the recovery partition?
Did you format and install Windows from an original Windows?
Did you format and reinstall from a DVD created from the recovery image on your computer?
If you formatted and installed a new Windows, is it the same version?

Your answers will help me understand how your problem occurred.

    Hello Geneviève

I think you just need some drivers or more likely a small Gateway application for your keyboard or something like that. Go to the manufacturer's website in the downloads section. Enter your product number and look for drivers or programs. There's a good chance you'll find what you need.

If they don't have drivers for the Pro version of Windows, try the closest version available.

Before making any changes to your system, I suggest you create a system restore point. You can revert back in case of any issues.

    Keep me updated.

There is no driver for the keyboard, I already checked, that's how I solved my internet problem :)
And for choosing the operating systems, it's only Windows 7 32 bit or Windows 7 64 bit, so they don't differentiate between Pro or Home.

I imagine it is 64 bits?

    https://www.gateway.com/gw/fr/CA/content/drivers-downloads

I found this in your user guide on page 19

To swap the special key and the special function of the F1 to F12 keys,
change the function key setting in the BIOS (to open the BIOS
press F2 during startup, then select the
Main menu and change Function key behavior to Function keys).

    Come back with the news!

Yes, 64 bit, sorry I thought I had mentioned it. Well, it was already set as it should be, however I still have some keys that don't work... I will look over all my drivers once again and uninstall the keyboard driver one more time... I'll keep my fingers crossed, thank you so much for your time, if it works I'll let you know, if not I'll manage without the options that don't work haha :) Could you please give me the link to the user guide if you still have it? I couldn't find it while searching the site :(
      Thanks!!

    Here is the link:
    https://www.gateway.com/gw/fr/CA/content/drivers-downloads

Select your product from the list:
    Laptop / NV Series / NV57H
    Select Windows 7, 64-bit
    Select the "Documents" tab
It's the last one at the bottom

You can also try all the small applications

    Good luck!
